Epson Stylus 660 Inkjet Printer

My Epson Stylus 660 Inkjet will not print from CUPS in Puppy 4.21 Retro Final. I get an error message in CUPS stating: "/usr/lib/cups/filter/pstoraster failed." When previously using an older version Puppy Retro 4.2 the printer worked very well which was 2 weeks ago. I cannot use that version now because I can no longer access the internet using it. I'm using an old no name Desk Top computer that is over ten years old. The printer driver I'm using is CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.3. The Device URI is "parallel:/dev/lp0. When I attempt to print, the printer state reads as follows: "processing, accepting jobs, published." Yet, there is no output from the printer. This distro as well as the previous one was run off a live CD. The CUPS version is 1.3.9. Can a newbie get some help with this matter?

I went to the repo here and got the "final" version which is puppy-4.2.1retro-k2.6.21.7-seamonkey.iso. It contains CUPS 1.3.10. I did a simulated install of your printer and it worked OK.

Okay. I'll reinstall the version you used and will let you know? I'm new at this and I'm not sure of all the proper steps.

I reinstalled the Puppy retro version you used. However the CUPS version I have popping up is 1.3.9. So, I'm going to download the CUPS 1.3.10. I hope this works!

You need to delete your old pupsave file and start fresh.

Did you do a full or frugal install? This might be easier if you deleted your whole Puppy install and started again from scratch.

I didn't install anything. I'm running Puppy from CD only. So if that means frugal, I guess it is frugal. Nothing has been installed off the CD. I use the CD every time.

Are you sure you have puppy-4.2.1retro-k2.6.21.7-seamonkey.iso? I just checked it with a fresh install and it has CUPS 1.3.10.

There is something wrong with what I am copying concerning this distro. I deleted everything called Puppy, ran the new distro from the CD and the CUPS version NOW states 1.4b2. My new downloaded version says it is 4.2. I downloaded and burned to the disk what you indicated. What happened?!! Why is there no 4.21.

The version I have IS Puppy retro 4.2.1. However, I cannot access the internet with it now.
Any Suggestion? From anyone out there?

The printer is now printing. I cleaned out all previous Puppy versions and am now running Puppy 4.2.1. Reinstalled the printer info in CUPS as well. I printed the test page early this morning and all was okay. Printed another test page a few minutes ago and now the printer won't stop printing! I guess its feast or famine when it comes to Linux.
