Thank you for the link to your add-on's, Jemimah.

Got the Skype sfs but haven't tried it yet.

A little off topic, but I want to mention that Fluppy (with Frisbee) is the ONLY Puppy I've tested so far that is quick enough to catch and connect to a short-duration ad-hoc network beacon (Barnacle). Good job on your part, I should think!

Will you be adding the ability to setup system sounds with the next release?

Probably wont work, but you can try. Snow Puppy has also 2.6.35.7 kernel and I made a pet for replacing rt2870sta driver: rt3370sta-v2401-k26357.pet

The kernel is same, but compile is different. If you try it, use dedicated savefile and blacklist rt2870sta driver with bootmanager. You can also add the module for sure with bootmanager. Then reboot.
Unknown symbols error is probable though.

EDIT: Nevermind. It is firmware problem. So no need to try that pet.

Thanks for the thought, it seems that the driver issue is a on going thing with rt3070sta, I see that tempestuous has compiled rt3370sta driver for Ralink RT3070/RT3370 wifi devices for Puppy 5.1.x, this looks to be a better choice than using the older RT2870STA driver, giving support to newer devices also.

Actually that's available in fluppy12. There's now a checkbox in the icewm preferences dialog. It was a bit of a hack to get it working too!

Hmmm
Code:
firmware file rt3070.bin is too old; driver requires v17 or later

Wonder where they keep the latest version. I'll be back.

I had a search around and came across this another rt3070.bin with a modified date 04 jan 2011 which works ok, I now have a network connection.

Edit , bummer, I rebooted and it failed to function , locked up frisbee and couldn't reconfigure the network , on shutdown flashed a fatal error.

You can see what the error is by typing "dmesg" in the terminal.

Well I deleted the save file and created a new one, rebooted then copied the rt3070.bin to /lib/firmware, rebooted, run network setup, blacklisted the rt2800usb driver that it seems to think it is, load rt2870sta driver, it finds the wireless usb, saved it , run frisbee, it finds my wireless network, setup profile , ip is allocated automaticlly, all seems to work fine.

I then went to edit the profile, lost connection as well as the profile was unable to find wireless connection ,run dmesg, results below, removed wireless usb keyboard and mouse lockup, unable to get it back so turn off, reboot wireless works once more, when working is fine.

Edit I got the rt3070.bin from this debian package http://pkgs.org/download/debian-sid/debian-nonfree-i386/firmware-ralink_0.28_all.deb.html
The download http://ftp.br.debian.org/debian/pool/non-free/f/firmware-nonfree/firmware-ralink_0.28_all.deb

I think I should leave it to the more knowledgeable before I get everybody confused.

Just want to report that Fluppy 12 works fine on my eM350 netbook (only go the chance to upgrade now). Thanks Jemimah, for making wl the default driver - it now works straight from the box, I don't need to edit the sfs first before installing.

Happy to report that Frisbee on this version works excellent - no more manual editing is necessary.

Thank you again.

cheers!

I've uploaded a new printer-scanner.sfs with fixes for the foomatic-rip filter. I've got one report that it's still not working. Would you all mind testing and letting me know if additional modifications are required?

Think it may have been reported already that Midori can crash if :
- more than half dozen tabs open in several different Windows
- randomly for no apparent reason.
This morning, it crashed when I left it with a bunch of stuff open; absolutely nothing would restore it, not ESC, CTRL-ALT-BKSPCE, ENTER, mouse movement/buttons, amazingly, it also disable the hard reset button?
Apart from that Midori seems to the best of the lighter browsers, although I need to discover how to change the grim default font.

Subject description: LibreOffice to replace OpenOffice

According to the review and conclusions of this article it appears that LibreOffice may be the better choice for OpenSource as it's the more likely to survive and grow.

http://www.infoworld.com/d/applications/open-office-dilemma-openofficeorg-vs-libreoffice-716?page=0,0&source=IFWNLE_nlt_daily_2011-02-16

Anyone tried LibreOffice in Fluppy?
