I have read a couple of posts about XnView not working on certain Puppy versions,
for instance:
This one: Quirky 1.2rc feedback by pri
And this one: With regard to Stardust 013 by mawebb88
@ mawebb88, please accept my apologies for not responding earlier, but i only came across it yesterday. (yes, i'm slack )
Anyways, i think i have found a solution.
I tested using the following Puppy versions:
- Lupu-511
Quirky-1.3
Stardust-013
Wary-070
And XnView failed to run in all of them.
This is how i got XnView working:
- Step 1.
Download the attached archive fonts-for-xnview.tar.gz and unpack it somewhere,
then copy the two fonts into the relevant directory:
- Lupu-511: /usr/share/X11/fonts/misc
Quirky-1.3: /usr/X11R7/lib/X11/fonts/misc
Stardust-013: /usr/X11R7/lib/X11/fonts/misc
Wary-070: /usr/X11R7/lib/X11/fonts/misc
NOTE:
These fonts were taken from Puppy-432,
but could just as easily have been taken from 431 (or maybe even earlier versions).
So if you happen to require any others, you know where to get them.
Open a console/terminal in the misc fonts directory (as indicated above),
then enter the following commands (one at a time):
Code: Select all
mkfontscale
Then Restart X ServerCode: Select all
mkfontdir
- Lupu-511: /usr/share/X11/fonts/misc
or if it is already installed it should now work without crashing.
Hope this helps
