Lupu-507 live pfix=ram on the quad w/ Nvidia onboard graphics.
Initial boot had the correct resolution (no acceleration) and working sound and internet. Installed the Nvidia 256.35 pet and with a bit of tweaking in the Nvidia X Settings it's all good.

I'm still attempting to get Opera 10.60 to work correctly in Lucid Puppy. Instead of trying my Opera pet in either a fresh install or running pfix=ram like usual, I installed it in my frugal install of 507 where I already had Firefox.
Opera 10.60 is working fine........must be using a Firefox plugin......just need to figure out which one.
To confirm I tried the Opera pet again pfix=ram and and the original problems were still there.More confused than ever...............

I did also stripe, but I dont' think it means anything. I installed luci-214 to a full install and didn't get the message--my guess is because it was a 200 number. The message refers to Puppy 2! But with lupu-507 I did get the message.

Even when it runs doesn't it have problems with media?

How to make customized CD with direct desktop |
|
I already posted the solution on this matter.
Now I made a patch against lupu-507 not for practice but for you to see what happens with my proposal.
directdesktop_patch-lupu-507.pet
It works both for customized CD and USB installed lupu.
Let us make a CD with firefox preinstalled for an example.
- Boot up lupu-507 without lupusave.
- Optionally, change keyboard layout, timezone, locale etc. You can run 'Complete Configuration Experience'. But the screen size will be ignored in the remastered CD.
- Install firefox (and other applications you like) from quickpet.
- Run firefox once to create the default settings.
- Install directdesktop_patch-lupu-507.pet.
- Remaster with 'customize /etc...' option.
REMARKS:
- Shutdown fails and drops to the console after installing the patch pet. Type 'poweroff' on the console or 'xwin' to recover desktop.
- You need to type 'puppy pfix=ram' at the customized CD boot if your PC has original lupu-507.sfs on hdd.
- Do NOT run xorgwizard or 'Complete Configuration Experience' AFTER installed the patch pet. You can do it only BEFORE the patch pet.
Similar way for USB installed one.
- Install lupu-507 on a USB drive.
- Optionally, change keyboard layout, timezone, locale etc. You can run 'Complete Configuration Experience'
- Install firefox (and other applications you like) from quickpet.
- Run firefox once to create the default settings.
- Install directdeskyop_patch-lupu-507.pet.
- Shutdown lupu with saving lupusave.
Again, do not run xorgwizard or 'Complete Configuration Experience' after these process.
The CD or the USB drive made above goes directly to the desktop on any PC.
What does the patch pet?
It modifies /usr/bin/xwin and creates univasal xorg.conf using keymap-set, which is contained in the same pet.
What i call 'univasal xorg.conf' is a copy of xorg.conf0 and keyboard entry add by keymap-set.

Nope. Been on Youtube several times today and tonight and in contrast to before where it was one click then nothing, I could start and stop the video at will..................surprised me to be honest.
Been running it most of the night testing. Not really in my area of expertise but it has to be picking something up from something I have installed....my guess is a FF plugin.

About a 9mb pet....but almost half the size is locales. |
Hey JamesC. Is there any command line switch that will make the Root warning go away? b Or, more likely, it would have to be recompiled with an option (as with VLC). |
There must be because it does not show in NOP.

lupu506 - more tests reveal.... |
|
spent some time (down with flu and useless for anything else says other half) and came up with these problems
1/ while trying to do a resize (1M left) - took 4 goes to upsize screen, maybe need an earlier warning on shortage (say, down to 10% left requiring an acknowledgement before allowing further saving, or something like that)
2/ not always holding the resolution setting on a reboot, it's reverting to the max size, not the set permanent size, having to do that again, and again..... At least it's "roughly" behaving now i've manually put the monitor type and model in the config file. ?Didn't think it was using the xorg.conf any more??
3/ usb stick was plugged in on a hard drive frugal install when I powered up from dead- pmount said it was there, but until mounted via pmount, the icon doesn't always appear on the screen
4/ many of the "nnn_lucid_nnn" packages now seem to need a "Menu>Shutdown> restart jwm" before icons appearing at install or dissapearing at removal, both direct and via ppm.
since 507 is out, i'll suspend testing and download that tomorrow morning and see what happens then
two requests
A- can it be set that the default directory of the save file be the same as the frugal install directory, should/would make it easier for both newbies and us oldies as one less step to remember when doing a fresh/test install.
B- whoever looks after gnu-cash, we need the doc's to do the tutorial, please add or link, thanks
regards
scsijon

Drive icons |

It is long persisting issue on puppy.
There are 3 ways to encounter:
- Run eventmanager, open 'Desktop Icons' tab, Tik box to erase and redraw and realign existing icons. Then restart X.
- Install restartjwm-20100730-1.pet. Main menu > Desktop> Desktop > Repair Desktop. It performs above process on the fly. You need not restart X
- Replace /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit to rc_sysinit-20100703. It has the code imported from the Japanese edition which improves drive recognition on boot.
