Speedport W700V DSL Modem refusing to connect to Seamonkey

#1 Post by lugboy »

Have installed puppy from pup44-a1.iso. My networkcard eth0 passes test.

Am trying to connect to my speedport W700V by starting Seamonkey and doing http://192.168.2.1. This should get me to the Admin of the router.

Seamonkey responds that the address seems okay, but that the site is refusing to allow connection. (Using https doesn't help)

Suspect two things:

1. The Speedport doesn't like Seamonkey (This is deutsche telekom guys, they are worldclass at Glitches  . Will try to install Firefox and see if it likes that.

2. IPV6 needs to be turned off. Read something about this in a Ubuntu forum. Dunno how to do that.

Any ideas? Has anyone got DSL with a Telekom speedport up and running ?

Promise to post a howto here if/when we crack this :)

Am new to Puppy, but like the philosophy.

Forgot to mention that the Speedport connects to a Windows PC running IE fine, although it is a bit flaky. Needs to be asked 2 or 3 times sometimes before it responds. After that it is fine.
