hi there so recently i have wanted to learn how to maybe compile a couple of packages just to see if i can do it.
i have a couple of questions though
1. i have the devx for puppy 5 but is there anything else i need program wise that might help me out?
2. i'm getting more friendly with bash but is there any special tips and/or tricks that maybe one of you found?
3. is puppy 5 even the distro to be compiling in? should i backtrack to puppy 4 for stability or stick with the newer one
i know how to use git and i have very basic configuring knowhow (./configure, make, make install, etc)
i read technosaurous's guide on pet packaging and i just saw a couple of good bash habit threads in this section
i would like to contribute to the repository project and this seems like a good way to do that
it would be nice to have a large repo of programs that aren't "necessary" but are useful in some way or another and to have them in one place (is quickpet the new repo thing or is ppm still being used?) would be even better
compiling tips from the pros
