Teamviewer>>Now possible??

#1 Post by cthisbear »

I want... I want Teamviewer.

http://www.ghacks.net/2010/04/17/use-te ... x-support/

" For the purposes of this article, I will show you how to install TeamViewer on a Ubuntu 10.4 installation. This install
is simple if you follow these steps:

1. Open up your web browser and point it to the Download Page.
2. Download the .deb file
that matches your architecture (32 or 64 bit).
3. Allow GDebi to install the software automatically.

Once installed, you will find TeamViewer in Applications > Internet > TeamViewer. "

////////

New: TeamViewer for Linux

Download TeamViewer for Linux now!

http://www.teamviewer.com/download/index.aspx?os=linux

All-In-One: TeamViewer full version

Download rpm v5.0.8206 Red Hat, Fedora, Suse, Mandriva (32/64-Bit)

Download deb v5.0.8206 Debian, Ubuntu (32-Bit)

Download deb v5.0.8206 Debian, Ubuntu (64-Bit)

Download tar.gz v5.0.8206

///////////////

But now it might be possible.

And no Teamviewer won't work in Wine.
Or the Portable Teamviewer.

And I always use run...not install in Teamviewer.

So can someone make a Pet.>>>Please.

Chris.

Have you downloaded and tried clicking on the file? lupu and dpup both may be able to install it, no pet required. Of course, all users will need the same software.

yeah Chris, what Jim said.

If it doesn't work type "which teamviewer" in a terminal, that will give you the installed location.. let's say for now it's at /usr/sbin.

Then type "ldd /usr/sbin/teamviewer" and post your results.. just highlight the terminal output, all of it, and middle click in the "Post a Reply" window. That will give all the dependencies including missing ones.

Too geeky for you? Let us know and I'll have crack.

Cheers

Thanks 01micko

I know you are hard working on compiling and helping with
Lucid Puppy. Don't resort to drugs, we need you Lucid.

PS, Are you related to seven of nine?

On a more serious note a small speech connect
(and I think teamtalk is small)
would make a great option for Puppy 5.1
or an update option in the new package manager
you have created

This is not the one I am thinking of

There is a small system used for chatting in games
not sure if we used it in Psip - which could do with further development

01micko: Yeah I just test and be a pest.

But it's OK.
Success or the lack of it won't change me.

Teamviewer is like Puppy in a sense.
Simple > Fast > I likes it.

It would just be great to use it in a Puppy 4 rescues etc.

Thanks mate Chris.

Chris I can confirm
that it seems to be running (need a second machine or someone else to test fully) in Lucid008

Basically go to the site and download
Debian, Ubuntu (32-Bit) version
then type teamviewer in the console
(it does not add to the menu - so you need to run from console)

Basically Puppy Lucid is installing and running debs
meant for Debian or Ubuntu as easily as Pets [Lobster faints]

Teamviewer works in Quirky 018 as well by using the DEB package downloaded from the Teamviewer website.

I tried the following:

Install the Teamviewer DEB onto both a Quirky system and a remote Ubuntu Jaunty system. Worked in both directions except for the inability to disable the other party's mouse input. If you want/need this, you need to start Teamviewer from a Windows system. Apart from that it appears to work very well.

Then started a Windows XP session and started Teamviewer. This connected OK to the machine running Ubuntu and was able to control the Ubuntu desktop from Windows no problem. Then started Teamviewer on the Ubuntu side and it could see the Windows desktop, also no problem.

The Teamviewer mini-client does not seem to be available as a Linux version - so just use the full version.

This is a useful find for Puppy users from the point of view of mutual support. Maybe a pet or an sfs could be built.

OK I've made a pet out of the Teamviewer DEB package. Tested OK in Quirky 018. Probably OK in Lupu 008 as well but haven't tried that yet.

At 18MB it's a little on the big side for inclusion in an iso though. (includes Wine).

Anyone know of a suitable place to where it could be uploaded at the moment?

OK I uploaded teamviewer.pet to here:

http://www.2shared.com/file/12697246/c2 ... iewer.html

It now has the original teamviewer icon and should appear in your start menu under "internet"

enjoy!

It did so under Lucid 008 and I was
able to control a Windows machine from Puppy

Can we find another host for the pet please?

Also did not understand about wine being included
Does that mean I can also run wine with this pet installed?
Does not seem installed . . . could not run from console?

Wine is included in the pet, but seems to be installed so that it can only be accessed by Teamviewer. This reflects the behaviour of the original DEB. The pet package retains the same directory tree structure as the original DEB.

That's not to say that it couldn't be tweaked so that Wine is available for running other programs. Would have to experiment with that.

edit: If picures of naked women do pop up, just close your eyes, lie back and think of England!

If you open a terminal and copy and run the following command, this will create a symlink to Wine in /usr/bin.
ln -s /opt/teamviewer/teamviewer/5/wine/bin/wine /usr/bin/wine
You can now run wine from a terminal.

If you think this useful I can upload a new teamviewer.pet with this symlink included. This will kill two birds with one stone - i.e. you can run Wine as well as Teamviewer using one pet. This then justifies the pet size of 18MB

Anyway back to Team Viewer>>
won't work in Puppy 4.3.1 ..so we need to use Tronkel up
and see if he can do a common Puppy pet as well.
