InfoCentral4Wine --an object oriented file management system

InfoCentral4Wine --an object oriented file management system

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=54038

When installed under a compatible installation of wine, InfoCentral is both a relational database manager and an object-oriented file manager. As a relational database manager, it enables some flexibility in defining records, and great flexibility in defining fields within each record and how each record relates to any other record. It treats each record as an object idexing them for quick retrieval. Among the objects it are capable of indexing is every file on your computer, or, in other words, it can link every file on your computer to every person, event or thing in an infoCentral database for quick retrieval or editing: of particular value if you're engaged in a project. As Infocentral can open an application which created the file (or to create a new file), editing can be done in your choice of applications. But see above link for problems and limitations.

SFS-TCZ_Linker

Mount and use SFS and TCZ files
will allow you to use SFS or TCZ (tinycore linux) files "on the fly" in Puppy431, Quirky10-13 and Upup (Lupup). You can mount them when you need them and unmount them (most of them) when you don't.

Picker file acrobat

Picker file acrobat

It's hard to define what Picker is-
It is an advanced file-finder, it does basic file management, the indexer views 20000 songs in 2 sec. But it's main target is to build a file-list that you can freely act on. - Play music, Save playlist, view pictures, copy files, send to burner, execute command, watch video..........It's nearly endless how Picker can manage your files.

Remove unneeded modules and firmware

This should remove about 20MB compressed of unneeded modules from your zdrv.... or during a remaster you can delete the contents of /lib/modules from your pupXXXsfs working directory and place the zdrv file in the iso directory ... thats about 1/5th the size of the iso.

XFE File manager

#23 Post by bigpup »

XFE File manager

File Manager,
It comes with different themes, like kde, gnome, tango.windows etc, plus you can change the background colours, Rox would have a few lessons to learn from this file manager.
Included a few puppies default icons, to make you feel more at home. Another nice thing about the layout of this file manager is that you can click up top and select from different types of views, like just one window like rox, or 2 windows like windows, or 3 windows.
Anyways you need foxlibs to run this file manager which you can get here.

enjoy

ddrescue

#28 Post by bigpup »

ddrescue

Data Recovery Tool
Quote:
GNU ddrescue is a data recovery tool. It copies data from one file or block device (hard disc, cdrom, etc) to another, trying hard to rescue data in case of read errors.
After building an initial image file of the drive, it returns to the drive and splits up the data error areas into smaller and smaller chunks, recovering progressively more data, and updating the image file.

TestDisk & PhotoRec

Testdisk is the data recovery tool, it "recovers lost partitions and/or make non-booting disks bootable again".
PhotoRec is the file recovery, it is "designed to recover lost files" from any kind of storage media.
The Package contains BOTH apps, although named only testdisk.

xRecurseDiff

#30 Post by bigpup »

xRecurseDiff

Quote:
xRecurseDiff is a small program that can rapidly traverse entire directory trees to show different version of the same files, for example to compare different version of the same project.
For every file in the first directory searches in the second for files having the same name. A report containing results is shown. A detailed diff output can be shown. Search can be case-insensitive and limited by a char filter.
In "library" working mode it compares only files basenames, while in "project" mode it compares relatives paths too. In "files" working mode it compares directly two files.

Edit-SFS 2.1 (squash filesystem editor)

#31 Post by bigpup »

Edit-SFS

Simple roxapp (click-able folder that runs a script) that allows you to edit an xxxx.sfs file like pup_xxx.sfs, or devx_xxx.sfs. It takes care of extracting and re-compressing. All you need to do is supply the file, edit it, then receive the new file.

It's stupid to use inferior software for ideological reasons.

Roxset

#34 Post by bigpup »

Roxset

Opens two Rox windows side by side.
Roxset opens two windows - side by side - based on your SCREEN SIZE!
Left one with the / directory
Right one with the /root directory
Creates a much better starting platform for drag & drop work.

roxrightclicks

#35 Post by bigpup »

roxrightclicks

This package adds loads of extra options, for file actions in rox, when you right-click on a file.
Actions are only enabled for file-types that it would be sensible to use them on. (no option to open an mp3 in mtpaint etc.)
