4.3.2 (Experimental)
This is an experimental Woof build Puppy
read about it here

I was pleasantly surprised.- seemed very stable and usable
It uses the weird Flash option which I got working once I had configured for my sound card . . .
Update: Flash not not so weird - I thought the free version of Flash was being used (as in Quirky) In fact Flash was not on as default because of flashblock - sorry for my usual confusion

Here is pup 4.3.2-experimental1 with fixed ROX-Filer:
http://bkhome.org/blog/?viewDetailed=01391
I decided to leave the GTK package at 2.18.3, seems fine.
As noted on my blog:
I'm only really interested in bug reports of a certain type: if something worked in 4.3.1 but not in this 4.3.2 build. It would be nice to know about the reverse also: something that did not work in 4.3.1 and does in 4.3.2.
I must reiterate that I did not create this with the intention that it will be the next official 4.3.2 release. I'm mostly just wanting to know that Woof builds a sane Puppy 4.x.
If you would like to play with it, have fun! If you reckon it's good enough to upgrade from 4.3.1, you're welcome to do so.
If you already tried the previous upload of 432, be sure to get rid of the traces of it, ie the pup-432.sfs off the hard drive.

It is better than some 431 in that the Connect works better on my HP/Compaq SR5622SC Ethernet LAN.
Stardust does it automatic the Blinky just starts. 432 has no Blink and I click Connect and then LAN and then Eth0 and then click on DHCP and it works and okay it.
while some others puppies loads driver upon driver and I never find the one that works and delete the whole thing. This one at least got it working if one knows how to click to it.
Stardust works right out of the box. Instant internet connection.
Re flash. Streaming video on svt.se svtplay.se on stardust it just works.
on pup432 you have to click three times to get it to work
on older 431??? IIRC you have to download flash to get it to work?
So that is progress.
I have not tested jpg or mounting or png or pdf or mp3.
Am I expecting too much to wish that it should have FireFox 3.6 on it?
Maybe that makes it big or fat? I am too newbie to know why it is this way. just guessing. thanks for providing it.
So pup432 is best among the standard ones but not as Out of the Box ready as Stardust is. Hope this test review is of use.

hello mr barry
i am using the 432 now and it works for me. i mean, i listen to radio
stations with gxine and one with the radio stream being in the
bowser. connects to my wifi service and everything seems ok.
sometimes i feel sorta stupid though. could someone post
a check list and then people like me, not very computer
smart, have something to go by. this might help in the future.
thank you for all the work. puppy has everything a person would
want.

Fresh frugal installation on an ext4 partition with the following changes. I find it very solid and will replace 4.3.1 with this version.
1. Added Firefox3.6 (no problems noted, even plays youtube videos fine)
2. Updated pbackup, pfilesearch, pfind, pmusic
3. Added pwidgets-2.2.4
4. Changed pupsave.2fs to pupsave.3fs, and modified initrd.gz so that it will mount as a journaling file system on the ext4 partition.
All programs tried work as expected except GTK + 2.0 Change Theme (opens, but will not change themes)
Thanks,
Jim

please fix auto dhcp in puppy boot:
Code: Select all
ln -s /sbin/ifplugstatus-0.28 /sbin/ifplugstatus
Wifi gone!
Machine I am using is Dell gx100 with a full install of Puppy v3.01
and the internal wireless modem worked ok. Now after an
upgrade to experimental v432, the wifi is no longer detected.
Whats' been left out of this version ?
Cheers Tui

Using second release with fixed Rox. No bugs so far. Seamonkey loads very fast. Display is clear and crisp.
Little speaker icon in tray does not pick up theme change background, same for blinky. Changes to GTK theme give a black screen but menu still works so 'restart X' is the escape route.
Open Office seems fine.

if not working means you get a blank window, try enlarging it a bit by dragging a corner. gPlanarity needs this done to work in dpup.lobster wrote:Using the newer experimental
gplanarity? (under games)
was not in 4.3.1 and does not appear to work in 4.3.2 . . .
if it doesn't work at all, sorry for eavesdropping
