Thanks for the podcast! - interesting, useful.

2 sections of this podcast have mutual relevance, your sister and security. So how come?

Well, if you explain to your sister that banks in Australia are now recommending that on-line banking customers should be using live CDs (I believe Puppy was specifically recommended for this), she might then get a better understanding of why EXE and COM files are maybe not such a wonderful idea after all. They can contain viruses and stuff for example.

Might be possible for XP to function as a live CD somehow, but would almost certainly suffer security problems even if it was possible to create such a thing.

Too much to hope for, that Microsoft would have an understanding of this need?

They use the example of an already long-since-available tablet - with similarities to the one you mention and make the point that these are, or have been to date, spectacularly unsuccessful.

I don't agree though with all of what they say there - personally speaking. Potential end-user interest in tablets must surely exist to a greater or lesser extent - depending on the extent of ones needs for portability and functionality in the workplace for example. These gadgets appear to me to have a useful potential for data retrieval. Linux could provide the essential security base on these gadgets.

The article is in no way pro Apple iPad. That much I do agree with.

They also make the point that Microsoft doesn't seem to have a clue about how to make a good desktop interface for tablets. The current full XP-style desktop interface is useless for the purpose. They (MS) seem to be totally unwilling to put in the necessary effort that it would take to develop a really effective user interface for tablets.

May well be though, that with the apparent runaway success of the Google Linux-based Android platform, a knock-on effect will emerge that will help to encourage the take-up of tablets.

Thanks for taking the time to do the pawedcasts! I like what you said about supporting puplets. Hits home with me because I did grab teenpup legacy a few days ago and try it out but have not posted any feedback. Same with Lighthouse. I see my pattern now though, if I try something and it works for me, I get on the forum and post away, as with dpup and PAW. I'm a big fan of dpup and PAW. But if I'm going to really be involved I have to also give feedback on stuff that doesn't work out for me.

Also got a few laughs, you're a funny (dare I say quirky?) guy.

Pawedcasts seem a bit louder now, Lobster. I always used to have trouble hearing them even with headphones.

I hadn't realised how pretty the visualisations were in Gxine before today. Or maybe I have finally lost all of my critical faculties. I used to dislike the ones in Mediaplayer intensely.

I like it, good job. I agree with you about the difference between wooflets and plain puplets, wooflets indeed require more work but often push Puppy forward more than puplets Smile

And by the way: Igulender? Wish I could just change my nick to my first name Smile
