Dear nooby,

Literally thousands of changes and improvements - even between RC versions. Check out the change logs at winehq.org. Wine is a "work in progress" and a moving target to boot, so you are advised to try the latest if you want maximum compatibility and features. That is not to say that regression errors do not occur. :)

With kind regards,
vovchik

Thanks, that sounds like something to look forward to enjoy then. :)

typical of me now that I got spotify finally working I will only test new wine on other OS than those two I make use of now.

But thanks for keeping me update on the progress.
I use Google Search on Puppy Forum
not an ideal solution though

I installed the 1.2 sfs in Lucid Puppy 5.1 and it works perfectly. Even better than the official pet offered in Lupu's quickpet! My Quake 2 & 3 and Unreal Tournament games run great now.

Thanks green_dome

wine and puppy 5.1.x

#86 Post by scsijon »

Hi green_dome,

would it be a burden for you to create an up to date version compatable with the 5.1.x and lucid series, we are at 1.1.43 at present.

I want to see if I can run a couple of programs that are holding me back from a total windows free environment as well as trying to setup our aussie taxpack.

Playdayz and 01micko are the 5.1.x co-ordinators/creators.

Latest thread is:

Scsijon,
It is my understanding that 'Wine 1.1.43' found in ' Lucid Puppy 115' and/or 'LP 116' is the package that I compiled. [1] [2] [3]
Hopefully the newer Wine packages work just as well in Lucid.

Hi,

Sorry to be the one asking the stupid questions, but I have problems with this..

System:
Puppy 4.3.1 - new clean install running off a CF card in a IDE adaptor with a mini ITX embedded PC 256Mb RAM 256Mb puppy file, tight VNC server and no monitor.

I downloaded the PET from the link above, verfied OK and installed. - all the menu items appeared but none worked - from the command prompt I tried winecfg - this resulted in the error message in the screen shot below

As I had a clean install I tried installing all the files in green_domes's post above

esound-0.2.41-i486.pet
etc.
etc.
(don't know if I neeed to do this or not?)

But I still get the same error messages. Does anyone have any ideas, it's almost like the PET is corrupted but it decompressed and validated OK so I have no idea.

Thanks
Alison

Dear AliG,

I have installed all green_dome's versions and they all work. Form your screenshot I smell a corrupt download, since the message was that certain files are either not found (essential ones) or they are too short. Please download and try again. The pet is OK.

With kind regards,
vovchik

Vovchik,

OK download the .PET again - check the MD5 sum I get "8de9f588dfb1641f2c0ea05bd4b60605" this is not the same as the one on the Wuala web page... Tried a couple more times with different MD5 each time!

Tried the SFS file - MD5 sum matches the one on the web - added to boot manager, and I'm up and running.

No idea what the problem with the PET is vs the SFS (perhaps only tempoary) - but thanks for the suggestion. Now I'm off to install my data logger software and learn about serial ports under WINE..
