#1 Post by puppymurga »

I have to enter acpi=force every time after pressing F2 key to make my puppy shut down properly

how could i modify puppy files to make it automatic

in /boot/grub there is the menu.lst file, open it

i have a line that reads

Code: Select all

kernel /boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/sda1 ro vga=normal acpi=force
in mine, yours might be different, but if you find the 'kernel' line and add the 'acpi=force' bit at the end, your problem might be solved

If you were running Puppy off your hard drive using the GRUB bootloader, you could use bugman's suggestion. But you're not. So an alternative is to make your own Puppy Live CD that includes the "acpi=force" option.

Go here and read the discussion about making a custom CD for recyclers. It's at the bottom of the first page.

Download and unpack the "files.zip" attachment. Open the file "isolinux.cfg" in a text editor and change "pfix=ram" to "acpi=force"

Ignore the stuff about the one-click installer and follow the instructions for making a new ISO.

[Edit] In your situation, you will have to build the new ISO inside your pupsave. So you are going to need about 250 MB of free space to do it.
