How to use a PS/2 mouse with a USB touchpad?

I have selected the ps/2 mouse as my primary mouse. I also have a USB touchpad which I would like to be able to use for some tasks, eg browsing.
I see there is only one /dev/mouse so can this be done?
I'm using 1.0.7 + xorg.
