Disaster strikes !!

#1 Post by Tui »

Well this was a new full install of a v4.3.1,with a small partition of
25meg for grub, main partition and a finish partition of 512meg
as a linux-swap. Oh! I used the new EXT4 for grub and main.

All was going well with all my additional progs and tested, ok,
that was an hour and more time, I thought it was time for a coffee,
on returning to machine I noticed that the mouse had stopped
working! and could not get any action on the screen.

I also noted that the clock had stopped working as I had setup
the prog pwidgets and the other system monitoring I had set.!

So after much sadness I hit the power reset button. and after the
reboot the grub menu back, and selecting v431 to run it came back
can't find! -- a big shock!

I reloaded THE LIVE CD and off I went again.

I could not re mount the partition that held all my progs, I
then went to gparted where it seems the space holding my progs
was still there !

So why can I not mount this partition ?

Is it that I have to start all over again ?

Help please,
Tui

So why can I not mount this partition ?
have you tried fsck on the partition?..might need it after the forced shutdown.

One thought crossed my mind...perhaps the seizure occured when the screensaver tried to kick in when you were away
