Can I update Grub on MBR using existing tools?

#1 Post by munichjohn »

Hello! I want to use the Grub 'timeout' parameter so I can turn on my computer and leave it to boot Puppy (4.3.1). I edited menu.lst removing the '#' commenting-out timeout and changed the value from 50 to 6 seconds. But I could not find a way to write this to the mbr. So I used an external program to do this and it works the way I want it. However, can I do this using Puppy tools? If so how? Best, munichjohn.

Grub is written to the mbr, but its configuration isn't - you just edit menu.lst with leafpad or whatever, and grub reads that file when it boots.
Do you know a good gtkdialog program? Please post a link here

Thanks. As easy as that. Trust me to think it was more complex! Best from freezing Munich. JohnS....
