Lobster,
Thanks for the fedback.

Yeah, that seems to be a limitation of the Rox-menu, it can only grow above the button. So you can't have it at the top of the screen.

If you click on the speaker icon to adjust volume. the slider covers the icon. I had to click on the desktop or another application to get the slider window to disappear.
I had a problem with that a while back with an earlier version of Puppy where I shut down with the volume slider window open and after that, I always had a ghost of it on shutdown.

Also, if you place the menubar at the bottom of the screen, it hides the drive icons and restarting X does not remedy it.

Installed fine on my R40 Thinkpad laptop.
Got without problem the create pupsave panel.

During boot/setup the fonts chosen were pretty big and sometimes the push buttons were of screen. Fortunately I knew I could push enter to continue.

My favorite style is a vertical system tray, so I was happily surprised I got one. My preference is at the left side, so I edited the 'tray' file and changed right to left, but that didn't work. Changing to right again, but I lost most icons in the menu structure.

Interesting tho. Will continue testing

EDIT
I changed the desktop icons and I got the icons in the menu structure back as well. Good.

EDIT2
Attached the pidgin 2.6.1 sfs and this worked (had to copy the libpurple.so.x to /lib first) But that's a problem in the sfs

EDIT3
Unless there is a trick I didn't find yet, it's annoying to minimize open windows in order to get at the system tray.

Very good i can now load sfs files on the fly. Quirky on usb stick and SFS files are on my hard drive partition so mounting them will not overlap root aufs.

Cheers :)

#8 Post by Firefox »

I downloaded and burnt a cd, but on rebooting from it the loading stops after a minute or so with init not found kernel panic unable to switch root.
Im not using any netbooks just an old standup machine - not thw first time I`ve had these problems with puppy downloads. pfix=ram doesnt do the tricl or acpi-off so i cant play with it - logo looks great.

I have tried Quirky on my netbook, Pc2Go (2nd generation Classmate). It did not correctly detect the monitor mode of 800 by 480. I fixed it by manually creating resolutionfix. It does look nice once the resolution is fixed.

I have not been able to get the wireless networking to work. It uses the Atheos rt73usb card set. The proper kernel modules are present (rt73Usb, rt2x00usb, rt2x00lib, mac80211, cfg80211, crc_itu_t, rfkill). I have tried using the wizard, and pscan, the home network is not detected. I have used ifconfig wlan0 up to bring up the interface. The command iwlist wlan0 scanning does not detect the network. Any ideas?

EDIT4
Found the way to call tray/panel options. Could set the tray at the left. :D
