Wanted: a very Linux-savvy EEEpc owner and aficionado with some spare time to help develop a Puppy Linux for the EEE and possibly other netbooks. Expertize in C, the Linux kernel, and gtkdialog, all greatly desired.

I need help keeping up with the beta testers on the forum thread, and help developing wireless and bluetooth applications. Also help with testing an maintaining a netbook kernel. Once the kernel is done, assistance is needed to select and modify applications and window managers to comfortably fit on small screens.

This is an unpaid position, unless you count the gratitude of EEE owners everywhere, and the knowledge gained, and potential fame and fortune, as payment enough.

PM me or post here if you are interested.

dvw86 is a guy who knows how to code, and he originally built the pupeee (3.01) puplet. (Oh, I noticed that this is different, puppeee. Smile )

I have the original eeePC 701 and have bluetooth accessory (USB) for testing.

technosaurus has built some small-screen oriented applications for the netbooks. I wonder whether the current 4.4 development will be netbook-oriented?

Yeah, we needed a new version of Puppeee since the newer EEEs need SMP and features from latest kernel. The goal here is not just to get Puppy to work on the EEE, but to make it the best lightweight offering on the market for the EEE. It's somewhat complicated because Asus insists on changing their hardware for every new model and they seem to release a new model every month or something.

I'd certainly appreciate your help and feedback raffy. I saw you created a puplet for the EEE too. There's a link to the latest beta in the first post of my Puppeee thread if you want to try it out.

The forum thread is getting extremely long and intimidating. I really need a subforum or a wiki or something because the conversation is getting chaotic trying to keep it all on a single thread.
