eDuke3d only shareware, how do I use the full game files?
I have the full game of DN3D from years ago and I installed DN3D on Puppy Linux using the eDuke3d link.
When I run it, it runs in Shareware mode.
Is it possible to use this shareware version as the full game just by copying the full game files into the correct directory?
If so where is the correct directory? In Windoze it was quite simple just right click on start menu icon, properties and find location, but right clicking on the menu item in Puppy just launches DN3D which is not what I want it to do.
Also networking, is it possible to get eDuke3D to work as a network game?
The idea is that I've got about 5 old PC's and am running a multiplayer gaming session tonight for the explorer scouts (adult mode off of course!), I thought DN3D would be ideal as it's quite a funny game and will run on pretty much anything (did think also of Doom and Quake, but they haven't really got the entertainment value of Duke speech and the ability to shoot scenery which make DN3D more fun)
Also some of the PC's are running Windows, some Linux and one is an old iMac, if I want to set up these in a network and use eDuke3D on all of them will they all talk to each other in multiplayer (i.e. do they send the same information and everything despite being on different OS's?)

That's because Shareware is determined by the duke3d.grp file.darrenforster99 wrote:I have the full game of DN3D from years ago and I installed DN3D on Puppy Linux using the eDuke3d link.

Yes (I just tried it, and it worked fine). Is it possible to use this shareware version as the full game just by copying the full game files into the correct directory?
Open the "home" icon, look under ~/my-applications/eDuke/If so where is the correct directory? In Windoze it was quite simple just right click on start menu icon,
Copy the duke3d.grp file here.
Works great (now I'll have to see if I can remember how I bound my keyboard commands when I ran it under DOS...).
Thanks puppymartin! "Born to be Wild!...."
Time to go kick some LARD ass...
