Freemind doesn't hold a candle to xmind...

#1 Post by glass.dimly »

Hey y'all,

I'm new to puppy and I really am just using it for working on a book (it boots in 15 seconds). Xmind and Abiword are the only two things I need.

I've worked in freemind, and after working with xmind, never looked back. Xmind is way more flexible and powerful. I'd love to see a .pet package for it!

You don't need a pet. Just install Java http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=27341
and then download "XMind 3 Portable - ZIP * (Windows + Mac + Linux)"
Extract the zip file and you will find a "xmind for linux" directory. In it is xmind executable. Click and have fun :)

This is the 3rd Java application I have tried and they are all amazingly snappy on puppy.

Hello T_B,

thank you first for your guide.
Xmind is generally good but pdf files, images or links have been inserted so you can't open it. On Windows it works normally.
Got an idea how this could be?
Many greetings
