tempestuous,
Thanks for the info on the early modem option. Considering that it was probably an option rarely exercised, I will wait until someone requests support for it, before even looking into building the modem driver.

rerwin, yes, not a common device, but not entirely obscure, either. Apparently ASUS provided the motherboard MDC connector for a generic modem. Dell sells such a modem as part number M5804 or model number H6660.
The PCI ID is 14F1:2BFA
It still requires some customised wiring, as explained here -
http://modmyeee.com/modem.html

As I understand it, support is via the Linuxant ALSA patches from here -
http://www.linuxant.com/alsa-driver/

I just tried the 1.0.20-2 and 1.0.23-1 patches against the 2.6.33.2 kernel source now, and both applied with a few errors.

puppeee 4.4-rc2

#2632 Post by Volhout »

scottman,

I do not have the iso anymore, but I should have an sd card install that I can zip up and put on dropbox (puppeee 4.4-rc2) if you can't find the official iso anywhere.

Jemimah had the iso's on her own web page, and when she left (stopped paying for the space) the web page with all it's iso's and pets disappeared.
And since it happened unxpected, there was no-one prepared to mirror.

Too bad....

Just read in a mail tread about "tinted slacko" that user "ally" mirrored this puppy derivative as his 1800'th puppy version. If that is the case it is almost certain he also has puppeee 4.4-RC2 atom mirrored. You could contact him.

edit: I checked and look at:

https://archive.org/details/PuppyLinuxPuppeee

The 130.6 Mbyte iso download (left panel) is puppeee 4.4-beta1 both celeron and atom. Under "other files" it has the modem drivers pet you where looking for. The 115 Mbyte iso is RC2, but it does not have atom or celeron specified, so not sure which one it is.
