Hi
Have anyone had success setting up vdr on Puppy? Or any other package able to stream video from a dvb-t card?

update 141109:
Video Disk Recorder (VDR) on Puppy is possible. Used a very elegant script for slackware to compile VDR on P412. Only had to adjust the url for downloading VDR-source in
VDR-Build-Script-aa2637f5a4e6/Scripts/vdr_1.6.0.sh...

A pet can be found here VDR1.6.0 for P412

The pet install a script in /root/Startup that starts VDR server when X starts. Delete/modify it for your needs.
After install you should run /usr/bin/w_scan to generate a channel.conf for VDR. Use #./w_scan --help to view the options.

A pet for w_scan-20090918 also available.

After install (and restart of X) you should have a new menu option in Gxine: XVDR and if VDR is running as it should clicking on this menu should bring up the VDR interface.

VDR is started with keyboard support. For other running configurations you can edit options in /root/Startup/runvdr_server.sh.

You can also run /usr/bin/vdr-sxfe instead of Gxine.

You need to have a working DVB or other TV-set-up (Gxine able to show TV)...

I think to remember vaguely once trying xawtv (on kanotix, pclos ?) that xawtv included also vdr. This because you included xawtv in your wonderful puppy mms studio

I think you are right about xawtv - I will try to follow that path - would fit well with the MMS setup.
Got vdr running but have some trouble to connect and actually view anything. But I am getting closer. Also got some good input from RoteSocke.

What Keyboard keys perform which commands? Can't seem to find them anywhere on the net.

i'am happy to found your vdr application for Puppy !
i downloaded and installed your vdr-1.6.0-full.pet,
now i want to add the sc plugin but i don't resolve to compile it, the source is here:

i try to compile it but nothing, only errors (i have Puppy 4.31 with devx.sfs )

i only founded a japan version of Puppy with vdr and sc plugin, but i don't understand the language...

have you try to compile and use this plugin?
have you a .pet file with plugins for vdr?

i thank you very much if you can help me, i want to use puppy linux and forget windows with progrdvb with plugins...

I tried to compile the source in your link - and the second time with success.
In the vdr-1.6.0-full.pet a sc mercurial plugin is included - and it seem the version your link point to is an older version [24] than the one already included [28]?
I could PM the compiled plugin to you if you are still interested.
Could you explain what is the purpose with the plugin - the readme is interesting: SoftCAM for Irdeto, Seca, Viaccess, Nagra, Conax & Cryptoworks...

i tried the vdr_full.pet and it has the sc-plugin on plugins directory,
but when i go to menu,option,plugins, i only see
xineliboutputs and no sc
it seems to no work.
i think you know the plugin, the sc is an emulator for smart card reader, for who doesn't have a card reader...
you can put the softcam key of your pay per view regular subscription on the directory of sc to watch encrypted channels you have subscripted.
It would be nice if a rotor plugin in vdr for puppy, with it we can watch more of 1000 fta free to air channels also for others satellites.

You think is possible to have the same plugins of vdr on gxine? it would be interesting to keep small puppy iso, but i think is no easy to create this plugins.

You have to load the plug in during startup - like:

Doing that VDR tries to start sc-plugin...but seems to fail. Looking in

I thought it might be something with missing or old "OpenSSL" and installed Ubuntu Hardy version of this - but it does not remove the error. Maybe you could try and look if you get same error?

Should be possible to make the rotor-plugin although I have no possibilities to test it - I might try someday...

an error was "no softcam.key" found
and some others errors

it seems to load the plugin, but after stopping it

i try the japan version of puppy with vdr 1.6.0 and in menu-options-plugin is sc plugin and option "reload key"
in the plugins directory ( ...../vdr/plugins/ ) is a "sc" directory with some files :
  • nagra
    seca
    viaccess
    Softcam.Key
    tps_au.sh.dpkg-new ( sh )
the directories are empty

Seems to me that the sc-plugin loads better in your environment than mine.
Maybe a difference between P431 and P412 - I will check in P431...- checked: Still the same error - I cant get pass the "/vdr/1.6.0/lib/libvdr-sc.so.1.6.0: undefined symbol: idea_set_encrypt_key"-error.
So maybe a hardware issue- what TV-card do you have?

Your problem could be configuration of sc. Try to copy the Japanese directory to your VDR - might give a hint. In the source to sc there is a readme and also a directory with examples containing some of the files you mention - maybe you can have another hint from this?

Could you give a link to the Japanese version - I would like to test it?

...Geexbox is simply a player audio-video, not a dvb-s dvb-t application, VDR is complete.

I have a tt-budget 1500 dvb-s pci card (samsung) (a skydsl pci card), i also have tried a saistar2 pci (netsystem), is equal.

today i see the readme of source of sc.

i tried to copy the directory on my puppy, but in menu-options-plugins i don't see the sc plugin as japan version
i try again to copy also the lib and of japanese version (puppy 4.00 )

is perhaps an error of different xine lib?
vdr-full.pet has different lib xinelibout of 4.31 puppy...

perhaps the new version of vdr-1.7.9 can be allright (also with rotor plugin), but i don't resolve to compile...

I resolved thanks to Goignuts.
the sc plugin is in vdr_full.pet but it have to be loaded on script runvdr_server.sh on root/Start
i have to add
-P "sc"
on the line before -P"xinelibout"
At the same time i can add other plugins i find on /vdr/1.6.0/lib

-P"epgsearch" -P"femon" -P"osdteletext" -P"streamdev"

after i create on /vdr/1.6.0/config/vdr/plugins a directory i name sc
and i put into a SoftCam.Key file with the codes of my subscription for PPV channels (Nagra - Viaccess - Seca ...) without to have a smart card reader
hence i can watch the encryption channels;

Hi, i compiled on puppy 5.2.8 the new version of vdr 1.7.20 with lot of plugins;
it support hd channels h264 (with dvb-t2 and dvb-s2 card).

Hi there

I have a Technisat Skystar 2 DVB-S card ..... is this software give me the same functionality as a Dreambox? ie plugins CCAM etc

Yes, you can also record more channels at the same time in the same trasponder;
your cards is supported on lucid puppy (i have one) and yo can use a standard usb pc remote controller.
Here you can try a smart card emulator (with some configurations on usr/local/etc):

oscam-1.20-vdr1720.pet

is a old version, but it is ok :wink:
you must have a regular subscription
