Hi,

I have a Puppy 4.3 on a Compaq M300 with a Pentium II 350Mhz. I'm trying to make kind of small video player with it. I have installed the version of mplayer that comes with Puppy but it gives me the error that this version of mplayer is not compiled for that processor.

Anybody knows of a version of mplayer that works also on old processors?

Thanks

Which version of 430 are you using? Try 430small or one with an older kernel.
Download it at http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/dis ... l-puppies/

Thanks for the tip. I tried but I still get the same error. It says that this error happens when mplayer is not compiled for that type of CPU.

Any more ideas? :)

This version of MPlayer
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=26511
has runtime CPU detection ...
plus many other advanced features.

A newer kernel adds no performance handicap, and an older kernel achieves no performance benefit.
