Arcade Problem-Games Flash

#136 Post by Frank Cox »

Hi Scott.

I think I formatted the usb with a linux format so I think I will start over.
Can you recommend an inexpensive input device for playing games? I really never got much into playing games on the computer but I want to set up a machine for my niece for Christmas .
Thanks for the reply, I may even try a different USB stick, for some reason I suspect the one I used if failing.

I've got a logitech dual something... It's just like a PS2 pad.. cost me £15 a few years ago, but I found these on amazon for you.. (amazon.co.uk, though!)

Airflo PC Pad - £4.95
Siatek P380 - £7
Saitek P480 - £7

They shouldn't need any special drivers, so should be easy enough to get working..

just type

Code: Select all

modprobe joydev
modprobe analog
in the terminal to load the joypad

This is like me saying "Hey, there's this great distro that I can't include anything with because of legal reasons...but here's some sites where you can acquire the files illegally!"

Thanks.

P.S.

If he doesn't fix it could a admin/mod please do so?

it was very cool if v6 was like "turbopup extreme based" but with 4,3,1..because I have somewhat a bug with my mouse with 4.2..you can see it here:

For people like me that has 3dfx cards (maybe it is the same with others),just install the driver for your card, not the full dri package that is on the drivers page..but if you want dri install the non full package of dri (it is on repos too),that way your card will work :)

When one reads the very fine print in the 'Licenses' which
apply to 'intellectual property' such as software, firmware
or other commercially manufactured 'property' which is
offered for 'sale' one finds that the 'Person' who is liable
for 'prosecution' for any alleged infractions of the 'terms
and conditions' of the License Contract is a "Commercial
Business Entity Person" who is engaged in the business
of Commerce.

Copyright Law is limited to enforcement against competing
"Commercial Business Entity Persons" (corporations) who
violate the Terms and Conditions of Commercial Contract.

While "demnlet" may have honorable intentions with
respect to his 'warning' quoted above, unfortunately,
he/she hasn't done his/her legal due diligence.

The Flesh and Blood Man or Woman (a non-commercial
living creation) is exempt from any such restrictions
unless the Man or Woman is a "General Partner" of any
such "Commercial Business Entity Person."

Legally, a "person" is capable of being many things.

When in doubt read the applicable 'laws' very carefully
and pay particular attention to the "Terms and Conditions"
of any commercial "Contract." Be certain to 'know and
understand' the nature of the 'Person' to which the laws
apply.

There is far too much disinformation circulating with
respect to what is 'legal' or 'illegal' for one's own
personal recreation. Please do not allow the fears
of the mis-informed to prevent you from enjoying
the 'legal' pursuit of recreation.

Unless "You" (the Commercial Business Entity Person)
are 'copying' and 'selling' as a violation of a
Commercial Contract in order to 'profit' then no
'illegal action' has taken place.

This is well established International Law.

Sadly many Judges have little knowledge of this most important individual 'person' right to NOT be prosecuted by the Federation against Copyright/Software theft who repeatedly get Judgments in their favour, in UK courts ....ggrr

In truth, the Judges are very much aware. Unless the 'people' take
steps to overcome their 'lack of knowledge' (as in studying and
researching) with respect to "Who and What" they are, the Judge
is left with little choice with regard to prosecution or judgment.

By our own 'ignorance' we fall into may pits.

In truth, the Judges are very much aware.....

And therein lies the SOURCE of the problem Jo Individual faces....

It's their insistence on feeding us 'Little Island in the World' mentality in a 'Globally Corporate Environment' that irks me

That, and the fact that we don't have a culture of rights championing by the Lawyers/Barristers who are supposed to be upholding our rights for us

Me, I'm a great believer in promoting common law - find something in print on the topic by a higher court & PUBLISH IT

[that's just for effect, as googlebot is my publisher  ]

Thanks again for the tip, Hugh, now amplified/published farther afield -

btw - Do you have a citing for the International case law? :D

Users of Puppy 4.3 can now install Arcade without problems.

New Downloads

Puppy Arcade v5 SFS, for Puppy 4.3:

Puppy Arcade V6 may be coming soon, I think and will hopefully be based on 4.3.1, or some variation of it...
Not sure when though.

V5 works great on my desktop computer, running NOP413!

However, on my laptop running Fatdog112 (I believe based on 412) when I click on Properties, Gxmame seems to crash and close. I've run arcade from a terminal, when I've clicked on properties and Gxmame closes, the last message in terminal says 'segmentation fault'.

Any ideas on how to correct this?

Not entirely sure without being able to test it myself, but run the 'ldd' command on gxmame, it will tell you all the dependencies, and will probably be that some of these libs need to be updated...

It's possible that Puppy Arcade replaced some libs.
Maybe copying some of these libs from your NOP install may help..

But I may be wrong, as this would possibly affect many apps, not only MAME :(
Sorry I can't help you more, but it's a place to start...

In your terminal (rxvt) type ldd /path/to/mame

Of course, you must replace /path/to/mame with the actual path.. It will show you all the dependencies used by mame, so you know what may affect it working..
