I say go with the 2.14X/3.01X look,
Blue-moon icon set
VW wallpaper
Gtk2 theme-->http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/dis ... ue-1.3.pet
Jwm->Gradient Grey
Plus use the mimes/icons I spent about 2 weeks making up for Barry :)

Hi Micko
If there's one thing that Barry will change at a whims notice is the wallpaper, I don't think a wallpaper will ever be written in stone :) Its about the only thing you really can't mess up in a RC stage :)
Other than a typo I guess :)

Grey isn't even a true color is it ?

#21 Post by nancy reagan »

Given things can be given back (e.g. if you do not linbe them at all).

However if Barry stays stubborn about the gggr ey in the last 4 issue (would have been more businesslike to stay in line with at least the blue of its predessors in the 4 series. After that, in the 5 series, he can switch to gggr ....ey - and stick to it - and not change color and/or desktop every update - .

The green green grass of home ...

Well grey is very depressing to me (they are going to paint this flatbuilding grey as in Eastern Germany) therefore I suggest to pay extra notice to the BRIGHTNESS COLORS OF THE ICONS

That said I suggest for the 5 series to distinguish between the updates by colour of the iconsm, or just a bar or a unique symbol ?

Newcomers might go astray with all those distroes.

It is something like packing a diamond (=Puppy) into a tupperware plastic box

Just a thought... :) I'd make it look something like this, not exactly this wallpaper, but something similar, clean vector one with pleasant colors, yet that looks professional too. I think I saw screenshot in other thread with one that would match perfectly. I just made that jwm theme imitating similar "chocolate theme" for fluxbox.

Nice, but somewhat extreme [in color depth].

A little more subtlety required. :)

Yes, like I said, some simple vector wall, I made that one just to show concept, what I had in mind.

I like your warm background color Dejan.

Though all the different colors of the icons make it a bit chaotic.

I miss the puppy eyes.

Hmmm,

So people want colour?

What about these variants on the original brushed metal puppy wallpaper?

Bronze, steel, gold and copper.

Put 'em ALL IN! 8) How much can it add anyway? I've seen similar sets of papers (without the logo of course) for OpenSUSE and Ubuntu as well, although the latter only changes the shade of brown.

Well I've been playing with the gold image....

So, what we have here is brushed-gold.jpg as the wall, japan-pup-icons.pet from puppy-look.tk, gradient brown GTK theme already in puppy, and Light Looks Gold JWM theme from puppy-look.tk, oh and changed text colour under icons to the background window colour ( a very light grey-brown) with black thick shadow.

I think it looks sophisticated yet simple... colourful without being garish. The icons seem to suit it somehow.

Thoughts?

ttuuxxx you were right! Barry will change the wall on a whim! That's ok... I have a cool alternative to the default in 4.3beta3... well not me but our friend jebaJQ8... the "ocean" wallpaper.. posted a few days ago on the wallpaper thread.

Cheers!.

Hi mick

That wallpaper is nice, but if the image and logo is over water, then ummmmmmmmmmm shouldn't it also have a mirror image on the water kind of faded out, maybe even rippled effect?
