Sorry

#33 Post by Nekroze »

Sorry about that first up OP is Original Post. as in the title post for this topic.

recently with blender i have had some problems i will do some testing in this area imideatly however i know that all the dependancies where included so it could be something else weird.

either way thanks alot for your feedback it is very important especially in that blender dose not work that is a big one in the way of Dev-Pups features.

Thank you once again and any more thoughts or feedback please drop me a line here or if it is a more detailed or larger message anyone can reach me almost anytime at nekroze.lives@gmail.com

Humbled,
Nekroze

Issue resolved

#34 Post by Nekroze »

I have found the problem with blender it was actually the fact that the Xorg base that Dev-Pup uses dose not include any form of DRI and i thought that would not be too much of a problem as it removes size not t have it but anyway

For a write up on it and the link to the Pet file to fix this has been appended to the second post for Issues and coming features.

edit Goals

#35 Post by alseycolemanmiller »

Nekroze wrote:Things to do in Dev-Pup:
-try to get Dev-Pup on a diet. I need to find out what is not needed in this full working environment?
-some more customization to add to the visual comfort of it all.
-Include some more packages for graphical development. it seems that the programming side of Dev-Pup overpowers the graphical at the moment.

Known Issues:
- Dev-Pup 1.0 cannot run blender as it needs Xorg to have DRI support this was stripped to combat fat but was not listed as a dependency for blender
-Download the Fix Here.

anything to either add to these list's or to help asses the issues or thoughts in this list from you all is much appreciated.

Thank you all,
Nekroze

sorry

sorry the link is NOT broken, but it had a extra //url at the end. delete that and everything's cool. when I click on the link this is what I get:

Code: Select all

http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/puppylinux/pet_packages-4/xorg_xorg_dri-7.3-1.pet//url
it should be:

Code: Select all

http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/puppylinux/pet_packages-4/xorg_xorg_dri-7.3-1.pet
Please edit that and:

OMG i cant believe i missed those.

first i also included the VB6 runtime installer in it its just beside the VB6 exe.

although it sounds noob-ish to blame things like this but at the time i was tired enough to almost miss going to the toilet......

stumbling i mean lol! that sounded bad but you get the point the meds im on are a bit much some times.

fixed both the ChangeLog link and the Blender Fix link and i have some news on future Dev-Pup developments and ill only give away a base factor:

i will be building it from the ground up with Puppy unleashed!

this is all so fun!

feedback!

#39 Post by alseycolemanmiller »

Cool. I´m using qemu and works fine! The wine apps needs to be fixed. you should install gecko or put the gecko installer in the wine apps folder. I put Foxit PDF reader which is a portable standalone and works without installation. I´m trying to put just SHED (simple hex editor) which is less than 1 MB so maybe you could put that on your next version. (or it should be included in the devx SFS file).

It's stable and I use JWM so with only 128 RAM on my pentiumIII I can kill non-responding windows.

I think the logo is sorta freaky, my dad saw the DEV-PUP wallpaper and he though it meant DEVil-PUP, haha.

Besides that if you´re making a fat version then install the libraries for wine too please.

Thats all!

hey again all, i have been a bit inactive of late but i have been forced to have a bit of downtime, this was initiated by some unwanted medical reasoning that is complicated but suffice to say it has been a difficult time.

i have taken the time to post here to tell you all that i have not and will not stop work on Dev-Pup i still intend on making it grow and become something i can truly be proud of so please keep supporting it and throwing down some suggestions and i will do my best.

thanks for understanding,
Nekroze

OMG

#42 Post by Nekroze »

OMG! well checkmate lol.... *gulp* the tab is loading now... ill report either soon after or much latter thank you though you have been very valuable to my efforts but i may have found some more things that can help towards this projects future with some very interesting concepts i doubt any or many may have even conceived but i think i may be able to pull it off however it may take some time...

i will most likely need to learn practically everything about practically all options for puppy Linux at a development level and or EVERY compiling option and feature and possibly more. it seems like a daunting task but for the first time in my life i have the first feeling that well. i may have found a task i am willing to make a life long... well not goal but ongoing project for a serious thing for me.

it may not be all that surprising that i am untouched by age enough to only begin such a thing. however i am not so young that i will not persevere or continue and eventually realize this idea and share with the vast network.

anyways thank you all especially you alseycolemanmiller. you have shown the open community that i always hoped would exist when i ventured further out of "windows" or the "recommended Operating System" thank you.

thank you all, as much as this is sounding like a goodbye it is far from it.

i feel this to actually be a true well enlightenment in my life and i have this whole community and of cause Barry Kauler for Puppy Linux.

at this point i am at such a high feeling as one may have noticed i cannot find a way to end this post. so i will not, i will continue with my work thanks.

Our son was interested in this project - has it been resumed since Sept. or abandoned - or merged with some other similar project?
