Subject description: pdf document assembly - fantastic!

Smile Very nice!

I'm pretty sure this is way faster than pdfedit (although I've only got pdfedit in Cygwin, not puppy) and it's certainly a much better interface if you're doing document assembly type stuff.

Unfortunately this is all python based Sad
But it's worth it!

Install:

http://www.puppylinux.ca/tpp/big_bass/python-2.5.2.pet (15.2MB)
http://www.puppylinux.ca/tpp/big_bass/pygobject-2.14.1.pet
http://www.puppylinux.ca/tpp/big_bass/pycairo-1.4.12.pet
http://www.puppylinux.ca/tpp/big_bass/pygtk-2.12.pet
(thanks Big Bass)
Updated poppler
(thanks MU)
updated glib
(thanks Ttuuxxx)
Libxcb or whatever this was for - extract to /usr/bin. Someone might like to pet just what we need.
(thanks craftybytes)
http://ftp.cica.es/mirrors/Linux/fedora/linux/updates/11/i386/pypoppler-0.10.0-1.fc11.i586.rpm - extract poppler.so to /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/
(Thanks Fedora)
http://ftp.kaist.ac.kr/ubuntu/pool/universe/p/python-pypdf/python-pypdf_1.12-2_all.deb - run `ln /usr/share/python-support/python-pypdf/pyPdf /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/pyPdf`
(thanks Ubuntu)
You'll probably need http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?mode=attach&id=8356 for at least one of those last two.

And of course the latest pdfshuffler from http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfshuffler/files/

Perhaps someone would like to make an .sfs of all this Smile

BTW please send me a personal message if I've missed a dependency.
N.B. if you're running Puppy with Colinux (AFAIK I'm the only one doing this currently) it will probably display pages all black... not sure why.

---EDIT---
Embarassed Darn Embarassed
Sorry everyone. I accidentally linked to the wrong poppler upgrade. Fixed now.

I've made an 11MB .sfs to make it easier to install pdfshuffler and its dependencies - python, pygtk etc. http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=45826

Great work disciple!!

I was looking for some kind of alternative for pdfedit..and this is just perfect. It is way faster than pdfedit on my 4.2.1 frugal.

Thanks again and best regards.

Sorry everyone. I accidentally linked to the wrong poppler upgrade. The right one was a couple of posts further down in the same thread.

There's a fork of Pdfshuffler some of you might be interested in; unfortunately it requires pygconf.

Aha!
I found an old debian package of pygconf that seems to work even with my gconf-dbus package.
http://snapshot.debian.org/archive/debian/20090310T203154Z/pool/main/g/gnome-python/python-gconf_2.22.3-3_i386.deb
Just extract the gconf.so to /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/gtk-2.0/gconf.so

To install Pdfsnip extract it and run `python setup.py clean install`. It should now work.
The main advantage of Pdfsnip is that it has a zoom feature... but this is slow and seems unreliable Sad
It might be better to add a feature to Pdfshuffler to enlarge just a single page (in a separate window or pane).
