I am testing the latest puppy 4.2.1 and it doesn't detect the huawei e220.
This is a very common umts modem that comes with a micro-SD memory card.
I don't know if it actually works as a modem, but I need to use it as a card reader and it is not detected.

I had the same problem with Ubuntu hardy heron, but i fixed easily editing the hal rules according to this discussion:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/278067

But Puppy doesn't seam to use hal ... so how to fix it?

You need to plug in the e220, open a terminal (ie rxvt), and input modprobe usbserial vendor=0x12d1 product=0x1003 . Then run connectwizard to set up, then run defaultconnect.
