Rox-Box De-tox

#2 Post by davec51 »

A Couple of things happened when I tried to run Rox-Box:
1. The download site was full of noxious popups and what looked like spyware.
2. When I tried to boot the cd made from the iso I got a kernel panic, not synching error.
This seems like a derivative that has value. The apps you omitted are just the ones I can do without.
Please advise.

As this is my first time, Im sorry, but Ive been told it's normal and it happens to most guys!! LOL
davec51 sorry about the hassle and thanks for reporting the error, this file should do the trick. no kernel panic, or terrible free file hosts!

Rox-Box Download Successful

#4 Post by davec51 »

Worked fine this time with no hassle. Thanks. Tomorrow I'll set up a frugal install from the iso and tell you how it goes.

Hey, thats good news! im not sure what happened the last time, Im guessing my upload got corrupted in some way, because the only thing different between this iso and the last is the wallpaper and desktop icons. Im going to avoid Sendfile and stick with Megashare!

Rox-Box Rocks!

#6 Post by davec51 »

I was able to make a frugal install of Rox-Box. Here are some results:
1. The freemem applet in the tray is small and partly obscured. Making the tray bigger doesn't solve the problem.
2. Icons for removable media do not appear on the desktop when I plug them in (usb and cd).
3. When I tried to configure the mail notification widget I lost the pinboard entirely. I haven't solved that yet; I might have to reinstall with a new save file (no big loss at this point).
4. I'm still having trouble getting Abiword. There seems to be a dependency missing.
Overall, it's a terrific program, fast, efficient, beautiful.

I like the icons, can you tar that iconset folder or make a pet for it and upload? :)

dejean., I downloaded those from wikimedia commons, NOIA64 icons. here is the link for a tar of the icons. http://in.solit.us/archives/download/164916 the download button is at the bottom of the page.

davec, I have not encountered any of those problems. I think the automount icon trouble and pinboard problems are from the widgets. Im thinking you might not be able to use those widgets without a workaround of some sort. also if you need abiword or gnumeric, i believe you need the Goffice core. I think thats your missing link.
