This will work well on my system right?

#1 Post by DracoNyon »

I have windows Me, tried linux mint and Ubuntu too. Now I really love linux except for a couple of things. Gaming and installing things not found in apt-get programs is really frustrating. So currently windows Me is installed. I am hesitant to put puppy linux on (I don't want to partition it) I have heard good things on Puppy though. I hate Me. I get errors and freezes like everyday but it can play games like morrowind, at an OK fps. Now my first question. How well performance wise will it run on an Intel Pentium III 866 MHz with 256mb ram. (I believe it is 256mb, on the comp itself it says 126mb (but expandable) although on a dxdiag report it says 256mb.) Like how many programs can I have open at once, etc. Now how well will it run morrowind using wine with those specs?

Also how easy is it to configure hardware? Like my wireless PCI adapter, or my Nvidia geforce 2 graphics card? I heard somewhere that puppy should automatically detect these things. True? Thanks for the help.

The only way to know for sure, is to download and burn a
Puppy cd. I recommend 4.12 or 4.21.

Inspiron 700m, Pent.M 1.6Ghz, 1Gb ram.
Msi Wind U100, N270 1.6>2.0Ghz, 1.5Gb ram.
Eeepc 8g 701, 900Mhz, 1Gb ram.
Full installs
