#1 Post by technosaurus »

I am just going to throw them all together in one pet for now

screenshots

list of programs that I have included so far - I have some more that need testing (like bluetooth and stylus)

gpe-buttonbox
gpe-calculator
gpe-code
gpe-edit
gpe-gallery
gpe-go
gpe-life
gpe-lights
gpe-mininet
gpe-mixer
gpe-ownerinfo
gpe-plucker
gpe-scap
gpe-screenshot
gpe-shield
gpe-su
gpe-synctool
gpe-taskmanager
gpe-tetris
gpe-watch
gpe-windowlist
ical-dump
infoprint
minilite
minimix
vcard-dump
vcard-normalize

it seems small until you realize that most of the size is png files ,,, it becomes miniscule (the largest executable is <50kb)

the pet installed the programs in
/usr/share/applications/

and I tried them there
they seem designed for a mobile phone?

Do you feel any are must haves for Puppy?

Many thanks technosaurus :)

gpe-shield - gui firewall 31k
gpe-su (maybe useful in upup?) 10k
gpe-synctool - designed to sync a pda but useful for other devices 13k

gpe-tetris - game 28k
gpe-watch - analog clock 8k
gpe-windowlist - puts a pager (list of windows) in a popup tray applet(useful for wm without a builtin pager) 11k
ical-dump ???

Ran Quickly in Upup476

I installed quickly and actually wanted the calendar and the plucker reader. They didn't work. But the games did.

Dear technosaurus,

Thanks for the little apps. In Puppy 4.10, I also could not get gpe-plucker to work. It complained that it could not open my pdb file. There are no dependency issues - according to ldd, so I don't know what the problem is. Gpe-mininet dispatched itself properly to the taskbar in ICEWM, but I could not view my network settings. The same holds for minilite, which ran, but adjusting the slider did nothing to my backlight (I have xbacklight installed).

There are nice little apps, and, with a tiny bit of tweaking, could be very useful in puppy.

With kind regards,
vovchik

PS. I used an existing libsoup-2.4.so.1 and made a symlink to libsoup.2.2.so.8 requested by gpe. It worked.

Wait till someone ports Puppy to the Smartbooks(ARM-based netbook), and these programs will really find their home. :)
