#1 Post by sylvi »

Hi, Im a lover of Puppy!!lol. I use puppy linux on my home PC. I think its fantastic for my business. My laptop however is run by arghhhh dare I mention starts with a 'W'.
I use my lappy for my business when I go out to sing at weddings and other gigs. I really need the software for PyKaraoke - Python Powered Karaoke, for puppy. Please. I can then turn my lappy into a linux puppy and we will all live happily ever after.Lol.

Please could one of your very talented 'bofs' make me a .pup for it, their website is at

http://www.kibosh.org/pykaraoke

Thanx

Luv Sylvi x

linuxcbon,

To install pykaraoke you need:
PyKaraoke requires the following libraries to be installed:

* Python
* Pygame
* WxPython (v2.6 or later)
* libsdl source
If you download & install these , from Mu's site:

http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Programming/P ... .5-dev.pup
http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Programming/P ... on-2.5.pup
http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Games/LibSDL1.2-forDoom.pup
http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Games/LibSDL1 ... static.pup

then download the source for pygame from:

http://www.pygame.org/ftp/pygame-1.7.1release.tar.gz

Then run ./setup.py from the pygame directory. This should install pygame.

(The installer will complain about not finding Smpeg & Numeric, and I've no idea whether they are essential for pykaraoke or not...If they are needed, Numeric is available from sourceforge, & smpeg source is available via svn from http://icculus.org/smpeg/ )

Then you need to get a working wxPython going. When I saw the source is over 20Mbytes, that's when I, and my suffering dial-up bailed out! Maybe you can get wxPython compiled from another distro? Let us know how you go.

Actually pygame, smpeg & numeric are available from packages.debian.org so, if they work OK, wxpython should be the only hurdle remaining.

http://packages.debian.org/lenny/libsmpeg0

Ive downloaded puppy 0.43 - running live
downloaded all the associated files and depenencies, and still nothing...

I'm at a loss.

Should I be using an older version of puppy or an hdd installed version?

When you say "running live", do you have a pup_save.2fs file on usbkey or hard disk? This would be where the packages you've downloaded would be installed, after you've clicked them. If you run pykaraoke, (or whatever the executable is called), in a console, what happens?

Okies, restarted and rebooted direct from the cd, no saves - all in memory. Followed your link and downloaded each dependency in turn the ended with the pykaraoke file.pet no conflicts or anything missing, click on pykaraoke or pykaraoke_mini and nothing - zippo.....

using pup-430.iso - - -

I think you need a pup_save file to install stuff to.
