Latest TeenPup - No Grub in MBR

#1 Post by svgt »

Hello,

with Puppy it is easy to write Grub to the MBR. With TeenPup I do the same things with the buttons. But I don't manage to transport Grub into the MBR of hda,

If I start the new system from hda1, then I get a naked grub prompt.
And the way in command level with grub> root> setup is not allowed.

What's wrong?

Regards
Svgt

Hello svgt,
I run TEENpup installed to my Hard Drive and the installer always works and installs the MBR where TEENpup is installed? I've done this on Laptops and a number of Desktops?
Is this the way your doing it?
Legacy OS 2017 has been released.

hello John,

I think Grub is written to mbr of hda. But then he is invoked at boot time and shows the naked prompt.
Thus Grub is not able to fetch the information from /mnt/hda1/boot/grub/menu.lst.

And this file exists indeed with all the normal information.

The general installer manages Grub installation. Now I have a complete Full TeenPup at hda, which doesn't boot.

I tried several times to rewite the Grub from Live-CD.

Hi
I have the same problem, I can't get Teenpup to install.
I am a newby to Linux, and as far as I can see I have followed the instuctions. To a newby
GRUB>
means nothing, I dont know what to do next.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, JB
