ttuuxx,
yes, the crashbit theme is huge.
It uses 128x128 icons to give a great look in wbar and other gimmicks, and it includes a icon cache file.
I just added everything to have something to test quickly.

To distribute final themes for Rox, your solution is much more effective of course concerning size.

aaaaa WBar ,now I see why you have 128x128 icons, I couldn't figure that one out, also the 16x16 icons that comes with crashbit is undersized for icewm, Nice theme Smile lots of links but also lots of nice icons also. I might use some in the future. Smile
thanks

Hm, but I don't know, if this also works in Rox 2.5!
I just tested it now in Puppy 4.2.0.

You must edit the Gtk rc file, for me this is:

/root/.gtkrc.mine
or:
/root/.gtkrc-2.0

You need such a line in it:
Code:
gtk-icon-theme-name="Crashbit"

Then restart Rox (restart X), or run gtkrefresh.

The source for gtkrefresh is included here:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=26953

I attach a binary of gtkrefresh, extract it in /usr/local/bin

Sorry for all that confusion Embarassed

Now THAT works! Thanks, Mark! Cool

Here is the eXperience Gtk theme that uses its own icons using the method I tried to describe earlier.

It uses a directory under /gtk2.0 called icons and that contains a definition file iconrc which is called from the gtkrc file in the /gtk2.0 directory. This way when you change the Gtk theme you also change the menu bar icons to match. Unpack the attached theme to explore how it works.

of course you could use here the same way to switch, as I described above, using symlinks.

For example .gtkrc-2.0 could use this line:
Code:
gtk-icon-theme-name="puppy-icon-theme"

puppy-icon-theme would be a symlink in /usr/share/icons/.

It would point to one of the themefolders there, or to a 24x24 folder as ttuuxx describes it, with only matching icons.
But in that case you must pay attention, because then applications that also use "gtk-icon-theme-name", must also have icons.

So it would be good, to use such a folder structure:
/usr/share/icons/test-theme
/usr/share/icons/test-theme/index.theme
/usr/share/icons/test-theme/24x24/ ..... icons ....

index.theme needs a line, that inherits from another theme, so if icons miss, the ones from the "parent" theme will be used.

Code:
[Icon Theme]
Name=Excuisite
Comment=Created with GIB
Inherits=Crashbit,gnome

So here, a program will first try to use exquisite icons, or if they miss, the ones from Crashbit or gnome.

You can see a full example of such a index.theme in the exquisite icontheme here:

If I understand you correctly your trying to find where this icon is located? It doesn't seem to exist (as a picture), at all! I have it there when I open ROX, but I've searched through every picture (it would have been quicker if I'd have cleared my browser's history, never mind) and it isn't there.

Its the same with some of the other icons there, the 'up' icon that's half shaded, can be found in blue, but not in green which is what it is in ROX. I'm not so sure about the help icon either, there are one's that are similar, but I don't think they're the same.

I don't really understand this, if they're not there, how does Puppy use them?

Edit: Wow, it usually tells me if someone's posted before I submit, not this time, two pages!

Well I managed to port puppy the 4.2 desktop+menu icon switcher to 2.14r, It took some code hacking, but it works perfect now, and its about 300 times quicker, lol I removed the popup dialog box, so once you click a theme, it automatically changes the theme and it does effect the background image or hot pup, I reused some of the code from the refresh menus thats built into 2.14r. So now I'm really happy Smile The cool thing is that on the puppy package manager that I hacked and gave tabs and 48x48 icons, they change with the theme also Smile now thats cool Smile
