macpup opera |
|
It's not suprising that macpup opera is getting attention. E17 meshes well with the puppy base and just flies. I was just getting to like jwm, now I have realized that e has evolved into the desktop I have always wanted.

Hello,
Nice dude, 3 Pups on the list...Sweet....I hope you are ready for whats coming...Puppy and E-17 make a sweet combination, and in an area where there isnt much competition...And E-17 and Puppy "FLY" so well together , I just know there is going to be a huge response to this beautiful Pup..
We are leaving a bigger "Paw Print" every day....And its people like You and John Biles, (and a whole lot more) who make it happen...

Weather Module |
|
Never used Enlightenment before. Dowloaded the tar.gz, extracted, copied it into /usr/lib/enlightenment and then looked in settings/modules. Weather was there but wouldn't load. A quick perusal of E17's web site convinced me to ask if there was a condensed help section in MacOpera for understanding this process. I got the module install process from an earlier post.
So far it is VERY interesting with a huge amount of work invested in it. Congratulations!

OK , That is a shelf module it is different from flame or snow. You load the module and then you need to add it to a shelf to use it. When you load it all that happens is that is goes into the list of stuff you can add to a shelf.

Sorry but response didn't help much. After extraction the weather folder was copied into /usr/enlightenment/modules. It shows up in module settings under Shelf. When I go to shelf 2 (where clock is in original install) and click "set shelf contents" the ensuing screen "available gadgets" is missing weather. The already selected gadget "clock" is listed.
Is weather a gadget to be installed somewhere else or have I screwwed up royally and need to re-install?
The E17 support is very vague on how and where to get shelves set and modules loaded.
Cheers

Hey, congratulations guys, on the chart ranking and the write-up, it's fantastic and well-deserved, too! Great to see those puplets getting some individual recognition around the traps
cheers,
russoodle

Good job, it's about time they give puplets a review too.
Just the official release is equal to featuring only debian, cause many distros are based on ubuntu itself based on knoppix, itself based on debian.
Might as well review only the Linux kernel.

Hi Runtt21, Prit1,
Thought maybe another download mirror might be helpful, since you're becoming a global entity these days :

Pups Push Ubuntu off #1 |
|
Ubuntu has been Distrowatch's #1 topdog for so long...
if I did my math right DW Data (last 7 days_:
Ubuntu 1622
MacPup 679
Puppy 595
Teenpup 361
-----------------
1635
This litter is now BOB!
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
I do have a Q too. Most distros show a fatal Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) error during loading on my old Compaq Presario laptop. This means, I think, mostly that the battery charging is wacked out.
Macpup Opera, besides impressing the heck outta me, does not show this error. Does that mean the ACPI is working right, or that the ACPI error just isn't registering when using the LiveCD mode?
ps a pat on the back to all you guys - this is impressive stuff.
