How to switch tasks from the command line?

#1 Post by redandwhitestripes »

Hi guys - can anyone tell me how to switch tasks when working without x?

For example, I know Links is running and showing a page, but how can I return to that task once I have left it?

Likewise with other applications, some of them I know how to leave but I don't know how to restore them.

I did a google and forum search but no joy.

Any advice is welcome.

you would need "screen".
I think, there is no pet for Puppy?

You could "undeb" this (did not try myself):
http://packages.debian.org/lenny/screen

Google for "screen linux" shows several sites, that explain it in detail.

Alternatively, you have 2 consoles in Puppy, that you can switch with
ctrl-alt-f1
ctrl-alt-f2 (user: root, password: woofwoof)
