Probably not; just the last with WhoDo as co-ordinator. There is talk of a CE version and from what I understand the 1.xx series is the only one not currently under some form of development. So anything is possible.

Unleashed core for 4.2.1 is now up. New and updated .pet packages have already been uploaded too.
| Pizzasgood wrote: | | Oh, and don't forget the devx_421.sfs (yes I know it will be almost the same as devx_420.sfs, and I will be using that for the interim...). |
In the process of uploading as I post this response.
Am I done now?

joking of course.
Take a well earned break WhoDo, I'm sure after your hiatus you will be nice and refreshed to coordinate packaging for Woof 5x series.
Cheers.

4.2.1 PDF Printer Installation: Directions Needed Subject description: I can't get a working PDF printer installed in 4.2.1. |
|
Firstly, thanks to all who contributed to the very nice 4.2.1.
I was always very pleased to find a PDF printer native in earlier distros, e.g. 4.0 and 4.1. So I was disappointed to see that it was not included in 4.2 and 4.2.1. I was somehow able to install a PDF printer in 4.2 by following my intuition but I can't get a working PDF printer in 4.2.1.
Specific directions anyone?

I had that problem with my Cisco Linksys USB Wifi too. Unfortunately the Puppy I was using couldn't even 'see' the circuit board mounted ethernet port either. I just couldn't access the internet at all with Puppy.
I'm not knocking it since it obviously works for the majority. Though it is disapointing when things don't work.

Windows refugees are used to the idea of creating a PDF document through a virtual printer. But most Puppy applications have the option of printing to a file - either Postscript or PDF. If the resulting file is in Postscript format, it can be converted to a PDF with
The old CUPS-PDF printer backend needs recoding in order to work with the new CUPS security features.

Thanks for all you've done WhoDo, You did a top job, keep up the great work in the future Now run, run as fast as you can and don't look back lol
every long road ends somewhere and you just reached the end of the line, If people are having any modem etc issues, They can go to other threads for fixes, etc, as long as Abiword and Cups works, I would say your off the hook And even if they didn't work. you've done enough, take a break What are you still here reading this?? , man you should still be running, lol
Its been great working with you, If you ever need anything just send me a line

Thanks WhoDo and all the other volunteers who support Puppy Linux.
I've downloaded both the standard and retro versions and will test computers in the office by Monday.
IMHO, every Puppy Linux release is a labor of love.
In my eeePC 701, 4.2.x has been looking crisp and responding quickly (with the added extras by tempestuous), so nothing to complain, really.
But just in case, remember folks, NO WARRANTY - use at your own risk.

Then make a new post asking for help. That's what the forum's for.
Make sure you reveal the exact version of Puppy you are running, and the exact model of Linksys USB device.

Then post a question for help. Again, reveal the exact version of Puppy you are running.
And in this case, also post the results of so we can identify the ethernet device.

Upgrade Question. |
|
I just downloaded 4.2.1 and put it on my uncle's old computer. It truly is a beautiful piece of work! Thank you to all that have worked so hard to achieve such a great distro.
I am still running 4.1.2 on my own computer. Is anyone aware of any problems that I might encounter upgrading to 4.2.1 and using my existing pupsave file? Presently I just run Puppy from CD and have the pupsave on my hard drive.
Thanks again for the hard work!
