Hi here's a version of fotoxx, its a older stable version, I tried to compile the latest and had errors, So i looked the errors up on the web and they were common, So I reverted to a release that compiled without the errors. I also included the exiv2 libs and the locales. Tell me if anything is missing please.

That kind of crappy because I already downloaded some skins etc for the next release. Oh well I'll keep BMP and add the extra plugins

I FIXED IT !!!, pounding some toons , Takes some resources when using it, But its 31 Bands per channel Pmusic can't touch this, lol Hey ziggy are you reading this lol man this sounds just excellent !! it works in 10,15,25,31 bands.
ok I'll see if I can port it to bmp, so users with low system resources can use the old eq, and people with more resources and use the way better updated one

Well it appears that the equalizer which is standard with XMMS has been designed to work only with the libmpg123 plugin, and none others.ttuuxxx wrote:have you tried the Equalizer? Its not working for me
Since my XMMS package has been configured to use the libxmmsmad plugin in preference to the libmpg123 plugin, then even MP3 audio files get no equalization control in this case.
I think it's worth mentioning that you didn't change the standard equalizer, but added the third-party "EQU graphical equalizer plugin" fromttuuxxx wrote:I FIXED IT
http://equ.sourceforge.net/
Yes, that's to be expected. Only skins are interchangeable between XMMS and BMP. Input plugins are generally incompatible.ttuuxxx wrote:Ok I tried the plugin in BMP and it didn't work
"Porting" is more than just copying files from one program location to another.ttuuxxx wrote:I'll see if I can port it to bmp
If you were to rewrite the EQU source code (for GTK2) it would almost certainly work with BMP. Other XMMS plugins have been ported from XMMS to BMP.
In the television post production industry, equalization is generally regarded as a repair. It's certainly used in sweetening operations, but its usage is exercised judiciously.
The EQ settings I see illustrated in the above screenshot are far from subtle! On good quality audio reproduction equipment, those EQ settings would sound awful.
There are one or two members on this forum who appear to be audio recording experts. I imagine they would use something like Jack & LADSPA for fine equalization control.

When I said "Ported" that's what I meant, I messed around with the code and tried to compile it as gtk2, But I'm not all that great with code. I might give it another shot.tempestuous wrote:
And when I said I fixed it, I was looking at it like well, I didn't have a working eq, and now that I've found a plugin that works and compiles and that its way better sounding than the original one. Well I would consider that being fixed or replaced. Man you like to be technical.
As for my eq settings, I've been a audiophile for about 25yr, I had my own business as a mobile disc jockey in my early teens. I've owned Carver, Mcintosh, Nad amps, and even built a tube amp. As speakers goes I've owned, polk, paradigm, cerwin vega, sound dynamics. So when I said it sounded great, It did, It all depends on what system your playing it and what setup your listening it on.

I have made it extremely clear to where I stand On Pmusic & Pcd in the forum and on Barry's Blog, where I've went as far as to say, its 100% Crap, it brings my system down to its knees almost, The mouse gets jumpy all over the screen, the when I move windows around they drag, etc a terrible product, hard on resources and should not be included in puppy by default. I stand firm on this, always have and until its fixed always will.rcrsn51 wrote:If you want to take a leadership role in the community, you need to stop making comments like this.ttuuxxx wrote: Pmusic can't touch this, lol Hey ziggy are you reading this
As for leadership goes, last time I went for the role, it was terrible experience and something I won't be revisiting very soon, but to take over a series number, maybe

Actually my technical qualifications are limited.ttuuxxx wrote:Man you like to be technical.
But yes, I would like to see a more technically solid Puppy, and I will challenge any and all of what I see as less-than-sound additions and contributions. (Also poorly documented contributions).
And I'm doing it through positive criticism, not ill-considered sneering.
On that subject, I consciously avoid the personal mellees on this forum, but I believe rcrsn51 has made an important point.

It's not your standpoint which is the issue, it's the way you express that standpoint.ttuuxxx wrote:I have made it extremely clear to where I stand On Pmusic
I, too, dislike pMusic. I also dislike some of Barry's technical decisions; such as the ALSA-OSS emulation modules, and the use of absvolume.
But I express my dislike as dispassionate criticism, not personal comments.

tempestuous wrote: (Also poorly documented contributions). Yes I'm the King of that, I try to document what I've been doing on 2.14X but really I spend so much time on all different areas of it in a day, its next to impossible, on any given day I might compile and install around 20+ programs and test them, out of 20 or so I might upgrade or replace 1, right now my downloads folder and root have a total of 228 folders and that is after I've removed about 40 yesterday and only been running 2.14X for the past 6 days, lol. I did manage to hack/compile libmad with a eq, but it didn't work, xmms would even play a song, lol I tried merging the 2 codes, just the eq section from mpg123 and about 10 other c,h files. Funny that it compiled without error, but still its not good for anything, lol, oh well I tried and thats what matters.
It's not your standpoint which is the issue, it's the way you express that standpoint.
But I express my dislike as dispassionate criticism, not personal comments. tempestuous in the begining I tried to be gentle with my expressions, I informed Ziggy that Pmusic was crippling my system with gtkdialo3, he shrugged it off, I informed Barry on his Blog like a year ago, and nothing, To this day it does the same thing, Then about a week ago Barry announced that Pcd will be a puppy inclusion, and well that pushed me over the edge. Some 'P' products that puppy has are top notch, second to none compared with whats out in the Open Source Linux world, and some are just small in size, buggy, resource hogs.
The other day I came across this small burner called Simple Burn, Its a small but really equipped gtk burner, I would say it would go toe2toe with Pburn and take a heck of a lot less resources to use, also its about 1/2 the size, plus has a simpler Gui, the only issue is that some of code would have to be change to work with puppy's cd/dvd detection/burning backend. I left a note on Barry's blog and also made a thread on here in Projects, and well nothing. I guess resources, stability, size aren't really high on puppies list. Probably better to bring out a new widget. lol Man I wish I had half the talents of some of the developers around here. Maybe I should take a nightschool class in programming or something.
Anyways thanks for respectful response and I'll try not to personally bash Pmusic, even if I still think on a scale of 1-10 for a default mediaplayer for puppy I give it a 1 and 10 being best.

Onto the next release, I would like to have XMMS but that 31band eq takes a additional almost 400kb compressed, then if you add the extra weight of XMMS around 600KB, that will increase the next release by 1MB, I'm trying really hard to keep it under 100MB, plus theres new additions like simple mail, Xfce apps, hardware info, gtkhash, updated gparted, and libparted etc.
Maybe we should push the limited to say 105MB max. I don't know what do you others think? How about just add a skin to bmp and a couple of plugins?

zdrv
Hey, zdrv is separate, so at the time of use, we're really talking about the size of pup_214R.sfs, aren't we?
90 MB pup-sfs shall be fine, IMHO, so that sums to as much as 106 MB ISO.

damn damn damn, The power went out for like 2 mins and I've been doing most of this live, well the compiling and keeping some of the stuff, I was in the middle of putting it all together, what I lost was the new 31 band eq, and updated xfce picture viewer that didn't crash because I removed the preferences and the hack to fix the locales, and the extra packages I compiled and didn't post. about 2 gigs worth, lol
damn damn damn damn. man I'm soooo fit to be tied.
Well I'll let the xfce picture viewer stay the way it is for this release, because I would have to recompile all that xfce stuff, but I'll do the fix , hey I was wondering something anyways it might be a good time to ask Does anyone of you know C ? The reason I ask is that it would be really nice if on the top Ristretto user panel where it says

Well, after a week away there's a bit of catching up to do.
Yes to a better mixer.
Not bothered about which music player but I'd call the XMMS 31 band equalizer technical bling, impressive to look at but how many people would know how to use it properly.
Image viewers :- Don't forget Qiv is already installed, this & Gqview get my vote. Too late now though it seems.
New screenshot utilitiy excellent but only seems to save as png.
Xfburn also excellent, pity it can't handle multisession.
So generally thumbs up with very minor moans.
