Did a manual frugal install.... to an ext4 partition. Should have known better.
Tried again on a newly formatted small ext2 partition and all is well.

Couldn't get wifi to work straight off (WPA2 problems), but installed pns_tools (the CLI network tool that 01Micko adapted from Porteus) and that worked.
Downloaded the devx pet and converted it to an SFS. Loaded and working after a reboot.

10 year old Compaq nc6120 laptop.
2ghz Pentium M
2gb RAM
64gb SSD (mSATA) in an IDE adapter.
Intel i915 graphics.

Hi Keef could you try this modified Pwireless , Clarf posted some updates on the Pwireless thread that wasn't updated on here. So I modified the script with them.

Also here 01Micko's pns_tool, I updated the missing .desktop icon. Could you try this one also and make sure it works, So I can added it to 2.14X

Rebooted with no savefile.
Pwireless still does not connect - I always thought it could not handle WPA/WPA2?

The new pns_tool pet works correctly.

excellent you found something that needs fixing, I'm working on the missing images on the control panel.
I don't really like the newer JWM, I hate that moving your mouse over and it switches screens thing, drives me nuts. Same with the drop down task-bar thing. I like a much simpler approach that takes less resources.

I have always generally liked JWM, particularly because of the low resources used for so much power. However, if an app such as Firefox is minimised in Openbox I like that you can drag and drop an html file from Filemanager onto the taskbar minimised Firefox icon and Firefox then pops up displaying that file.

I don't think JWM can do that, hence I tend to prefer Openbox. Or is there a newer JWM that can do that or a JWM configuration that results in that additional functionality?

Yes, I hate when a new desktop appears when moving over to screen edge, but I don't mind vanishing taskbar as long as that capability is configurable.

What I particularly like about JWM, however, is that it comes with taskbar and panels code built-in.

Seems to be a lot of scripted or manual configuartion required though I don't know much about how dynamically generated menus work, so I may well be completely wrong about JWM capabilities in that direction.

Good to hear it continues to be used and developed though.

With regards to numlock on my T42 there is still a problem I have disabled numlock in my bios. No other pup does this.

Pity someone could not make Pet out of this and maybe see if restarting
the desktop would enable it.

Ok, Back in the 2 series days Xorg wasn't the best at identifying keyboard layouts, They improved over time. So I downloaded the keyboard files from 4.31 and made a pet, lets see if this works
Follow the steps in this order to see if it works
1st- go to /etc/X11 and delete any xorg.conf files that might be in that folder I had 3 of them.
xorg.conf
xorg.conf0
xorg.conf.NVIDIA
Next install the keyboard-4.31.pet
Then exit to X (Hold down CTRL+ALT and press Backspace)
then type xorgwizard at the prompt.
follow the regular monitor steps and then type xwin to start the window manager.

keep your eye on this thread, 2.14X is about have a make over. I'm just about ready to see if this next Alpha version will boot. Replacing LibC(GlibC) with the latest slackware. The latest won't compile against old kernels. So I have to manually remove the old one and system link the older file numbers to the newer files and cross my fingers, it worked last time. Guess will find out tonight if it boots.

Ok guys the first alpha test was a Fail.
Basically it reported back the kernel was too old for the new glibC.
Worked a few years ago, but I guess things have changed.
I'll keep plugging along and see what I can do next.

Tried your pet having followed your steps and same problem remains with some of the letter keys giving numbers instead. Thanks for trying.
