I would say that is because 2.14X uses one the latest flashes and usually Barry uses an older version, If you swapped flash versions from wary to 2.14x I bet it would fix your issue, The reason I use newer flash versions is because certain flash apps demands the latest version, facebook games is one.

If you install the seamonkey pet above and then turn the HD <--High Definition off, the video plays fine, not choppy at all, but if you turn it on, it becomes choppy.

Agreed.
I will copy that, too.
Yay, LAN and Internet works!

My Athlon XP box uses that Realtek driver.......worked fine here.ttuuxxx wrote:I Just checked and 8139too loads perfectly, did you check the md5sum of the iso image, also check if your cdrw/cd etc what every your using isn't scratched.sheldonisaac wrote: When I boot TOP9, there are only a few modules loaded (as compared with TOP8, which I'm using at the moment).
The "missing" modules include
8139too; so I can't access the network adapter.
Any help will be much appreciated.

nubc I use default precompiled releases of FireFox and Seamonkey, for 2 good reasons, one it saves me a couple of hours each in compiling time, second reason is that they both autoupdate, which means you can always get the latest version automatically which many users really like, but on the other hand the sizes are larger and they aren't compiled specifically for 2.14X, this might result in slower video, but is very unlikely due to the fact I usually tailor 2.14X towards the mozilla releases, like glibC etc. But the HD would make a large difference due to overall video size.

Manual frugal install of top 9; booted fine. Solid WPA wireless connection made easily; connection survived reboot. Ixquick is new to me; I like the idea and after light use, seems fine. Watched short flash videos, changed theme, icons, briefly checked out a few apps, no problems found.

Yes, it did stutter, but not if I let it buffer, then play it (nice video). Could it be merely a slow server or net congestion?
A small thing and no different than top 8: on first connection, it takes two clicks of the "scan" button in the internet connection wizard for my network to be discovered (reproducible even with strong signal). Surely even a newcomer wouldn't give up on one click.
Thanks for your efforts, HTH,

Checked out inside.com [edit: insideline.com]; it did crash X; then top 8 did also. Sometimes it crashed to a prompt, sometimes to a black screen. I next copied top 9's Aurora firefox directory to a mounted drive, doing the thing DaveS has recommended to share one copy of a browser among various puppies. Got retro lupu 5.25, because it is browserless, used the Aurora copy. On opening Aurora, the MediaPlayerConnectivity Wizard opened; I cancelled. insideline loaded fine. Back to top 9; insideline okay now???? Is the Media...Wizard a clue to those who know? Back to top 9. pfix=ram, insideline.com crashed to prompt and I saved xerrs.log, attached, as a possible help. Remove the .tar.gz, it's really a text file.Hi Ttuuxxx, haven't really been keeping up on Classic Pup due to wireless compatability issues. But, did do a quick test this afternoon. Using Firefox, went to http://www.insideline.com and experienced crash of Classic Pup while running in livemode.

Ya, that video was probably slow on the server side. Not really worth changing anything in Classic Pup. I like to keep it out-of-the-box as much as possible, so flashplayer is back to original now.
nwipe is good for blasting the entire hard drive/partition, but not a single file.
Here are some considerations for the wipe utility

After some investigating, perhaps a utility based on shred and scrub commands is better for secure file deletion

I didn't find a download for the Linux/Unix program shred, which is apparently missing in Puppy. Debian has the shred program, but I believe it's part of coreutils. I'm glad to be using ext2 filesystem for the purpose of secure file deletion, because journalled file systems seem to complicate the operation.

Firefox
Hi guys, just an update. Tried Classic Pup Top 9 on another computer. First time, was on Compaq Evo desktop, and it crashed Classic Pup when trying to go to insideline.com from livecd with no save file (has Peppermint OS loaded). Second time, again livecd with no save file, on a Sony Vaio laptop, and same results. Maybe it is due to running in livecd mode. Compaq has 256m ram with 512m swap, and second computer has 768m ram with 500m swap. Thanks, Rob
P.S. Ttuuxxx, love the boot screen and the download extra drivers feature.
Sorry, forgot to mention also that I have Opera portable installed on Sony Vaio, and it goes to website and works just fine.

I was able to get to http://www.insideline.com OK, using Opera 11.01 under TOP9.
Thanks, ttuuxx, but the Opera 11.51 pet installs, but does not run;
segmentation fault.
I think that happened previously; the newer Opera makes some assumption about hardware, don't recall what.
Where's this "download extra drivers feature"?
And where's the SFSfile converter?
Thanks,
Sheldon
re:sheldonisaac
Hi Sheldon, it seems to be a problem when using Firefox Aurora, which is already installed. I have no problems with Opera going to same website. jonT has experienced same problem and hopefully problem will be resolved. Thanks, Rob
P.S. Download extra drivers is under network connection wizard which I ran by clicking on small computers in tray on bottom right side of screen. It is what shows active interfaces.

Also try different display resolutions.
Then restart Xorg, try again and please feedback.
Be aware if you run xorgwizard to change display resolution or reboot the xorg.conf file will be recreated and your changes lost.
