funny thing, while I was testing the next iso, you mentioned about a wysiwyg editor, So then I was debating on starting over again and including one, then Firefox says there's an update, lol I guess that was telling me start over again, So I did, the next iso will have a wysiwyg plugin already configured. Its a button next to the home button, you have to be on a new page to start it, It doesn't like say a forum page, but if google is open, it will fire right up.

ttuuxxx

http://www.ttuuxxx.gposil.com/2.14X/iso/214X4.iso

Here's whats in this update
-fixed menus
-removed xrun and replaced it with gExec still have a link for xrun that execuutes gExec, should I remove the extra link?
-Changed freetype
-Change glib to glib-2.20.2 version, I had to do this for compiling reasons
-added 9 wifi driver packages
-coreutils
-didiwiki-0.5-5.1
-gtkdialog3
-ndiswrapper-1.54
-ntfs-3g-2009
-pptp-1.7.2
-transmission-1.72
-added Xinha to Firefox (have to be on the net for it to work, and just open a page up to google and click the button next to the home button in Firefox.)
-removed the mail icon from the desktop
-added a mut icon on the desktop

(Known issues, extra "Most Visited" link in the personal toolbar.)

Jooleem missing depedencies

ttuuxxx wrote:ok this is it for now to do with games, This SDL game is realllllly addictive, you have to click 4 corners and make a square or rectangle, The game needs sdl from above, I removed the sound file because it was 5.8MB lol for 1 ogg song, So I spit it into 2 pets, 1st is the game and if you really want the sound file its there, Note you have to install the game before the music file, because I included a fake ogg sound file so the game would play, it wouldn't run without one, so if you install the music file second, it will overwrite the dummy sound file.

game (874kb pet)

Music File (5736kb pet)

ttuuxxx
I installed the SDL stuff from earlier before installing Joolem but there was 2 libs missing: (on X3)

libSDL_image..... & libSDL_ttf....

Anthyway I grabbed them from you lib store at http://www.puppylinux.ca/tpp/ttuuxxx/Libs/ made sym links and now okay. Really like this game.
Thanks Mike

If you can wait for Barry's Puppy218-alpha I will probably compile the various Eee drivers compatible with its new (old) 2.6.18.8 kernel.
Yes definitively I can wait :) . Many thanks.
Unfortunately there are still no network interfaces detected out of the box on my EeePC901 using 214X4.

Hi ttuuxxx. See in my quote above for the drivers I need. I tried (a few mins ago) tempestuous's from:

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 232#316232

Now have a interface using rt2860 but next problem is that when I try to configure this it reported that is does not support WPA whereas on Pup412 with the built in module WPA works fine!

I think you're referring to a modem/wifi router. A wireless modem is a completely different class of device, for which rerwin has created a special configuration system.
ttuuxxx wrote:Could you maybe explain what that output means?
It's simply a list of the hardware devices within your computer on the PCI bus, which your operating system (Puppy) recognises.
There is a separate command to do the same for USB devices.
The full list of device ID's of all manufacturers can be downloaded here -
http://pciids.sourceforge.net/
or viewed online here

That's just a matter of the Network Wizard needing to keep pace with new drivers as they're added to Puppy.
Eventually I may create a Network Wizard update to add all newly available drivers for the 2-series, but for now the fix is to open /usr/sbin/wag-profiles.sh in Geany, and at around line 101 you will see this line -

Code: Select all

bcm43xx|ipw2100|ipw2200|ipw3945|ath_pci|r8180|r8187|ndiswrapper|zd1211|zd1211b) PROFILE_WPA_DRV="wext" ;;
We need to define your driver by adding this: "rt28[67]0*|" (don't forget the separator) so it will look like this -

Code: Select all

bcm43xx|ipw2100|ipw2200|ipw3945|ath_pci|r8180|r8187|rt28[67]0*|ndiswrapper|zd1211|zd1211b) PROFILE_WPA_DRV="wext" ;;
Save. Reboot.

Hi guys,

I've given up on the troublesome computer and now using my 'skip' computer.

Just to let you know I reached a point where I had read the logs for errors.

The rt61 was not loaded due to error in driver, something like 'unknown label in module' , ? damn, can't remember now.

There were 4 line entries in dmesg where it had tried to load and one about tg3 , kernel tainted, unable to load, right after it.

I had cleared everything of 214X3 and done a fresh install of 214X4.

I took notice this time on first start, I was not given any options to choose except Xorg resolution. No keyboard, mouse or country.

When it started I immediately tried the wireless setup.
No joy, the rt61 was showing as:-
ra0, wireless, rt61, pci:ralink unknown.

I tried to set it up but after adding the wep code, when it went to save the profile it again hung at 67%.

No worries, 'skip' computer is doing fine so far.

sounds like you have a pupsave somewhere, because I'm 100% sure that keyboard or mouse settings weren't included.
If you look on the iso, eg click to view/mount then go to pup_214R.sfs and click on the, then look for these files posted before, they shouldn't be there, and then look on your pc, they should be there:)
/etc/mousebuttons
/etc/mousedevice
/etc/keyboardtype
