extlinux bootloader boot in another way? Explain please!

#1 Post by nooby »

I fail to read highly abstract tech text. I found this text in a commentary here

it is already possible to boot linux without messing with the MBR.
the extlinux bootloader supports being installed into the header
or a regular partition (like the linux /boot or root partition) and boot linux from there.
the foresight linux distribution uses extlinux in such a way by default.
greetings, eMBee.

EXTLINUX is typically used as a general-purpose bootloader, similar to LILO or GRUB.
Since Syslinux 4, EXTLINUX has been merged with SYSLINUX.

so much to read through. If this ext thing is so cool why don't we have it? Or do we and not brag about it?
I use Google Search on Puppy Forum
not an ideal solution though
