Gnome Games Lite Version 6.3MB pet
Hi guys well I figured why not have some games for the repo, I had a look at the default Gnome Games package in jaunty well it was big, I had it around 21MB pet plus it still needed Python and Python gtk, to be added, well lets just say for the average puppy user this is a bit much for like 17 games, so I figured out whats what with the package and removed 3 games and knocked it down to 6.3MB pet all included, doesn't need Python and others deps that way.

PS it comes with tons of card games if you look at the fullscreen.jpg below you'll see a small part of the actual amount , must be around 100 different card games in the menu.

Latest Gimp 2.6.6
Hi Guys I figured whats a repo without the latest Gimp So here it is , most people will only need the first file below, the other 3 are for Locales, help documents, and compiling files. This package is way smaller than the Ubuntu one due to it not using Python, and also being broken up like it should be.

@ttuuxxx
Thanks for the gnome games. Nice size too .
Had to use fixmenus to see the menu entries under "Fun", but all seems to run OK
How about putting the chess stuff in a different pet?
I know from having tried it, that gnuchess does run OK in uPup Alpha 6 using xboard as the front end for the gnuchess engine.

I trying to stay away from installing python, because once I do, Then I'll have to start over fresh again on my pc, There was a nice flash chess game in the forum, actually I think it looked better, lol it was only like 40kb hmmmm here's a link
http://home.no.net/zigbert/downloaders/ ... -chess.pet
I'm also moved on now, deleted the games sources files, well I kept the game pet If you still have the chess game maybe shoot a package together, I'm working on Xsane for gimp and then maybe one more big program before bed.

Gimp-Xsane
This version will only work if you have Gimp installed, So don't install it unless you have Gimp, This package will allow you to directly user your scanner with Gimp

ttuuxxx,
Thank you for those new Rox themes and your excellent instructions for installing them. They look great.
Also, thank you for the Gnome games and gcalculator .pets. (Also tried these on 4.2.1 and games did not work properly.)
One question, how do you get these to show up in the menu? Usually, just editing the /usr/share/applications *.desktop file to assure that the *.desktop has the right category (or adding a *.desktop file) is sufficient to get them recognized for the menu. However, that doesn't work with upup.
Your contribution's continue to amaze. Looking forward to your Living Water based on upup or dpup.
Thanks,
Jim

Probably have to "fixmenus" and "restart X server", and if that don't work try "fixmenus" and the exitX and go to the prompt that "xwin jwm"
Hope that helps,

ttuuxxx,
I spoke too soon, your gnome games showed up properly after a reboot. On some others, ie Bibletime, Firefox, Thunderbird, Pidgin that I had installed using Install, I had overlooked that the Categories were wrong. After editing, they now appear properly. I also discovered that after using "fixmenus" and going to the prompt that "xwin jwm" must be entered. For some reason, although "xwin" restarted jwm, that wasn't sufficient to get the new menu items.
Thanks again,
Jim

Pidgin 2.5.5 baseline version 1.7MB
Hi guys well I wanted to make a small version of pidgin like Barry has done in the past and after like 10 different tries I managed to bring it down to a 1.78MB pet, wow not bad at all. Its a lot harder to make pidgin this small due to the all the extras you get with added gnome libs in Upup and utf8 adds around 500kb of extras in a gnome config script, I had to manually remove over 4000 lines of code scattered in it. What a pain, way easier to make a full blown version of pidgin.
anyways please test it and report back what plugins aren't working and I'll remove them, I was thinking about stripping it down of some of the IM clients anyways. Later on when woofs released I'll build a full version with gstreamer, etc for voice.

Hey Ttuuxxx, do you mind in future packaging things like gnome-mplayer separately from big dependencies like Mplayer? It means people can install or update them separately... it is particularly relevant in this example as people often need to use special builds of Mplayer for various reasons.
Do you know a good gtkdialog program? Please post a link here

I downloaded and installed following packages:
1 - Rox 2.9
Went to the funny install of 2.8 first then 2.9
- Lost the option listview and small icons. Had to redo this.
- My OOo48 size icons were very small. Had to redo the set icon for every desktop icon of OOo
- Had a strange issue. Clicking on the desktop gave me the original background, but correct icons. Clicking again gave the Woof background with wrong icons.
Discovered that a restart X-server had to be done. Missing in the instructions?
2 - Gnome-Mplayer
Seems to work, but haven't tested very long
3 - Gnome-games
Seems to be ok, but did play them all. Would take a week or so. lol
4 - Galculator
- Very nice. Like it.
5 - Puppy-Package-Manager-1
- installed ok, but I don't see any effect.
Don't know what to expect, but hadn't the example of the screen shot with the tabs
6 - Pidgin
Didn't install as I was at 2.5.5 already through the repo.
7 - libpng
Didn't install as I don't have FF3 nor Opera
8 - Gimp and Gimp-Xsane
As I have a working Xsane, didn't want to compromise, so didn't install
But something strange is going on.
When I look in the Puppy Package Manager, I expected to see those newly installed packages.
They're not displayed, but I have empty lines(and as far as I can see corresponding to the nr of packages installed) When clicking on it I am asked to confirm uninstalling package "". So I didn't click.

The new gimp looks nice... I'll sink my teeth into it soon. I also installed the gnome games, hours of fun there , but not for me, the young bloke can have a go at them! I also installed Htop, nicer interface than Top in my opinion, easier to read.

The card games are great, I like them a lot so many to choose from.
The new Gimp is nice but I miss the menu's like "file" on the left and right UI's just the main window has all the menus now.
