Open Office 3.01 sfs

#1 Post by the_excellent »

I downloaded the Open Office 3.01 sfs module. Everything seemed to run smoothly. It loaded at startup and the programs were in the corresponding menus. But when I clicked on the OOO programs, they didn`t open. Any clues on what might be wrong?

Woof Woof! (it means Hi, welcome)

First of all, I want you perform a simple check to exclude any other origin of this problem

- go to sfs file
- click on sfs file (it is mounted)
- now go in /opt/openoffice.org3/program/
- click on application (like swriter) and see if it starts
replace .co.cc with .info to get access to stuff I posted in forum

I had the same issue.
I think some symlinks are missing.

You can:
1 - edit the corresponding .desktop files in /usr/share/applications
or
2 - associate the odx file types with the corresponding OOo applications.

I did choose for option 2.
Time savers:
Find packages in a snap and install using Puppy Package Manager (Menu).

I have made an oxygenoffice package. Oxygenoffice is just like openoffice but with more templates etc using MU's office build tool.

It will also make it so you can click on your .doc/other office files and they will open automatically in oxygenoffice.
