What do I do with dotPUP files I have downloaded... |
|
I have downloaded .pup files and when I click on them, nothing happens! I thought that the package installer would handle them or a compression program, at the least, would handle them? I guess I missed something somewhere, telling me what to do with them, after I downloaded them? :/
Thanks for the help,
QBall

I guess you're using the latest Puppy? You will need to install the dotpup handler, the Puppy 4xx series is not designed to run dotpup files, replacing them instead with dotpet files. Hope this helps.

Thanks battleshooter...I think that that will do the trick! I am using Puppy v4.20 (sorry, I should have stated that fact in my previous post).
Thank you very much,

they are the older system but may work in 4.2
Try pup2pet nameof.pup nameof.pet to convert
from the commandline

OK, one last question on this (hopefully, this will be the last one ;D) - - pup2pet asks a series of questions that assumes I know the answers to (like, if there are any dependencies, etc.) ... how can I find out what the program(s) require, that I do not have or know how to acquire? Is there another puppy program that will allow me to 'open' the pup file and look inside (maybe for a README or INSTALL file)?
Thank you for your help,
QBall
