Guys,
please have a look at
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=299358#299358
for a new test-version, this time with 2.6.29.1-kernel.

Oh man, is Pmusic smoother on smp or what? No drop outs, and no discernible system impact. In 4.2 I have to disable the progress bar to get any kind of smooth delivery. Not so in smp. Terrific.

Using the first test version, looks good so far. Wouldn't boot off the CD, couldn't find pup_420.sfs, md5 checked out O.K. Ended up doing a frugal install and now it works.

maggotspawn, whatever you do, make sure you disable the 'nosmp' command in your boot manager, or you will only end up with one core working.

I installed manually and htop shows 4 cores, so I think all is well.

Tried upgrading my Acer Dualcore laptop to Puppy 4.2 SMP the first version. It is the standard 4.2 release with an smp-enabled 2.6.25.16 kernel and some bugfixes.
My laptop has the Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter. Wireless isn't seen at all. Tried NDIS wrapper, no joy. Tried a MadWifi driver that worked in Dingo, no joy. Any ideas?
Edit: Solved with new test version. Thanks!
