Get seamonkey, gtkmoz, and CUPS to work in Bare Bones 4.1.2 |
|
I had recently toyed with Bare Bones 4.1.2 and encountered dificulty in getting CUPS, gtkmoz, and seamonkey to play nicely. Here's how I did it:
Firstly, install the following packages in PETget:
1. gutenprint-5.0.1-4cups1123
2. seamonkey-1.1.11-1
Make sure to install seamonkey from a PET package. If you don't, I suremise, the necessary links and directories won't be created and only Seamonkey will work
The next step is optional, but it is always good to stay up to date when it comes to your browser. Heres a link to the latest Seamonkey: Seamonkey 1.1.5. After downloading it, go inside the seamonkey-installer directory and click on the seamonkey-installer script (script not the binary). Follow the the instructions until you are prompted tp chose a setup. At the bottom of the screen you will see and entry titled destination directory. Click change and go to /usr/lib/seamonkey-1.1.11. Under the selection entry, highlight seamonkey and delete it, leaving the text field blank. Click okay and then next. Seamonky will ask you if you want to delete the directory, say yes. Follow the onscreen instructions after this. You now have the most recent Seamonkey and gtkmoz should now work.
If you followed the above instructions, you now have:
1. The latest (1.1.15) version of Seamonkey
2. A working install of CUPS
3. A working gtkmoz
Thanks to Wolf Pup for all his guidance regarding Bare Bones 4.1.2
Hope this helps somebody,

BB = bulletin board? BaBy?
It's always advisable in a how to to be very explicit.
But thanks for the tip.
