gray,

I went back to reread the orginal posting and was surprised and pleased to see that you had in fact just updated the VirtualBox files to ver. 3.02, and added an Additions file for puppy guests, as promised. Thanks.

VirtualBox 3.02 is now updated in my business computer. Simply amazing.

Thanks to Sun, who provided us this wonderful facility. As in the case of Open(Star)Office they acquired a German product and turned it into greatly improved open source.

And thanks to gray, who gave us Nop and the .pets to keep upgrading it.

Henry

Gray Altho I kNow that You've Previously Stated that U wouldn't Release another NOP 'til Puppy 5 / Woof was Finished, I Wunder if You'd Please Reconsider Considering that Barry has been Distracted by these Puppy 2 Updates & Consequently Delayed Woof / Puppy 5 Development / Release.
Besides I'm Rather Curious 'bout How a NOP Dingo 4.2.1 Might Look!
Preferably w/ an SMP Ke*nel & NVidia Drivers, PLEASE
if You're Not "Lost in Space" ( Err, I Mean Toooo Busy ), that is

Ps. I'll be Cheering 4 Dingo Deans Team in South Africa Smile

NOP is one of my favourite puppies! Recently that was Boxpup, but now that i've installed and configured wbar into NOP, as well as Abiword and Gnumeric, it really is great, and diserves its name, coz now it is Nearly Office, and not "NoOfficePuppy" Smile

Keep up the great work! Salut from Croatia!

Cooleech:
try installing XFCE 4.6.1 on puppy barebones 4.21. Wink
It's not quite NOP, but it's something (gotta try that out today again. The only problem I ran into so far is that CUPS refuses to print test pages because it doesn't know how to handle postscript for some reason).

I'm quite happy with my modified NOP, so i see no reason to do that, tho, any suggestion is wellcome! Smile Btw, anyone know some other WM that has single-click on desktop and that its as lightweight as Xfce? LXDE + NOP's theme? Wink

I can advise you two things
- do not use xfdesktop icons and create another xfpanel with launchers
or ( that's what i have on eee pc) install rox -filer and use it as desktop with jwm or openbox of fluxbox ( of course i installed them also)

Mixed up.

thought I used your virtualbox 3 some weeks ago in this NOP.

Yesterday tried again same: nothing worked.

Then I gave up. Just by sheer incidence I grabbed me Fatdog and tried to install your Vbox.

To my surprise it installed.

Any clue where I mix things up ?

For I thought you installed all the libs as well in NOP.

Only play with iso's.

Gray, you're NOP is great it works better and fine. I heard some news about the development of puppy linux 4.3. there is some improvements there and it is using recent kernel. if the puppy linux 4.3 is released would you release a NOP version of it? (By the way it is advisable to disable the Pwidget by default because it makes the start-up process longer. It must be enable optionally by the users). I wish you maintain using the XFCE desktop environment and thunar as a file manager because it is very user friendly, really great for linux beginners.

And I have a question too. Does the NOP 4.13 (not 4.13r1) can support the dual-core processors? Does it have load SFS script that makes the SFS modules load while the NOP is running? (No need to reboot and after the SFS modules is loaded it is ready to use)

More power to you Gray. GOOD LUCK!

Hi Mistfire,

Yes I do plan to release NOP based on puppy 4.3. Hopefully Barry will release 4.3 with a modern SMP enabled kernel to take advantage of multiprocessors. I have not had much time lately though, so may be a few weeks after 4.3 is released. I Will take your suggestions onboard re sfs & Pwidgets.

that is great Gray. I wish that you will succeed making another NOP with better performance, more compact, and faster booting time. Good luck

By the way, i notice that the print screen button on keyboard doesn't work to deploy screenshots easily and also there is no speaker icon (for volume control) in the panel of NOP 4.13r1. Could you fix that problem?

Can you modify the thunar? if you can, could you possibly embed the ftp, and samba in the thunar for more easy to use. And if possible, add also the computer:/ in the thunar with disk management utility (It is just like My computer in Ms-windows) for easier disk management (such as mounting, formatting etc. which was the same behavior as nautilus or konqueror/dolphin, when when you access computer:/ )

thank you and more power
