Ok guys I went a bit nuts on this version, I added a lot of packages to this, I figured why not :) So I packaged up the QT. This one can do almost any format. I haven't tested it, but it looks good :) The Gtk version washing crashing so I removed it.
it can copy 19 types of video and 11 types of audio.

for both packages you'll need.

On a more positive note the qt version appears to work flawlessly.

Also your qt pet already contains the qt libs so did not need the qt package to get avidemux2_qt running :)

Hi mike I removed the GTK version, I just tried it and yes the gtk version crashed, Actually I think its gtk at fault, also Seamonkey doesn't compile without a GTK patch, So I guess we all can stick with the qt version, Its nicer looking anyways :) How do you like all the new options compared to the last version, I don't really use these programs, but hey If it pleases the general public then its worth building the package. Glad its working properly.

Actually I think its gtk at fault,

I pretty safe bet.......

I get the feeling firefox/seamonkey crashes might eventually trace back to the same common cause and would explain behaviour varying from stable to hopeless from various users. I'm going to try opera out on that one as it uses qt also.

As for your lastest creation it's looking excellent. The avidemux project just gets better and better and seems to handle anything that's thrown at it. Apart from this recent quirk it's been a reliable workhorse that gets regular abuse.

Just because I do I had the qt version running on puppy 2.12 by using a qt4.4 from suse 9 that would work with glibc <2.4 as I noticed x264 was compiled to work with this version....yay.

The catch...libqtcore = 11mb and libqtgui = 70mb!!!!...

not sure if worth pursuing but how did they make such large libs??.

If there was a point it's that otherwise avidumux 2.3 is the last version that works on puppy 2.xx (and 3.xx?? not sure)

mike why aren't you using qt from puppy to use it? it should be small enough. If I can help, I would. I also compiled qt 4.4.1 sometime back on puppy 3 I think it was, its 24MB and complete, you can probably delete half of it, since it has webkit etc included.

Thanks ttuuxxx...i'll give that a whirl...was not pressuring for getting this working on older puppies but if the libs were handy then why not :) ...compilations of qt4 tend to coincide with the change to glibc 2.4 and higher .

mike

edit
/lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.4' not found required by /usr/lib/libQtCore.so.4.4.1
oh well....perhaps I'll sneak glibc 2.4 in from puppy 3 to my crusty old pup
Keeping up (or down) with library versions must be a compiler's headache at times.

edit_too
ok I logically applied the magic 'strip' to the suse libs et voila 10.5mb for the pair...doh
Tested and run just fine...there seems to be no antialiasing and the gui looks more like gtk1 but functionally seems just fine. Could be useful for anyone wanting qt 4.4.1 for older puppies..eg the latest opera...ldd says glibc 2.3.2 or newer needed.

this also works and gives the proper graphics even though its 4.3.4....only libqtcore and libqtgui and links are needed to run avidemux...I put them directly in /usr/lib rather than the usual subfolder

Hi

I'm a newcomer to puppy linux.
I'm using 4.2 and have installed ttuuxxx's version alongwith the dependancy files. My machine is a DellLatitude (2G ram, 2G dualcore)
Sound works fine in other applications (eg gxine), but trying to play any video file throws a "trouble initializing audio device" message.
A google search revels this is a common problem- resolved by clicking tools-preferences-audio and changing the settings.
In my case, the SDL and Jack settings produce a choppy and very slow video; with alsa the video is OK but no sound.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Could try xv for the video output but I've always had that choppiness with the sound but since it doesn't interfered with editing I just ignored it

Thanks for the reply.
I'd read somewhere else that having no sound does not affect the editing process. On XP it works fine (same computer).

Wait so can this change an .avi format movie to a DVD?

You can do that with just Pburn. But if you want menus you'll need to get QDVDauthor, DVDStyler, or the DVD wizard thingy.

ttuuxxx...do you still have that gtk version around...the gtk 2.12.1 patch fixes the crash but I ended up with the other pet that is floating around which doesn't do half the formats including (gulp) xvid?

I promise not to show the home movies...... :D

Hey ya Mike
are you looking for a fixed version of gtk2.12.1? if so try this one.
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/dis ... -fixed.pet

or the gtk version of this program is located

The gtk version....cheers.... Good idea to have the bug fixed gtk listed together with it.
Saves a few MB if QT is not needed for anything else.

Ok feeding back.

Your package is working 100% with the fixed gtk 2.12 :)
More formats than you can shake a stick at.
Its a big binary...is that because ffmpeg/avcodec is compiled into it?

Anyway cheers for popping it back up on here
