I am unable to install Windows on my computer for various known/unknown reasons and am attempting to install Linux.
I can boot from a live CD boot am unable to figure out how to put it on my hard drive so I can boot w/o the disk and have full use of my HD. I am unable to find the menu.lst file and have zero experience with Linux. Any and all help on this matter is appreciated.

Alienware m7700
80GB Sata HD
2GB RAM

i hate to sound unhelpful but...

there's like a million posts in here discussing installation, have you read any of them?

the install procedure is pretty much fully automated, there is a menu item for it, give it a try!

[and menu.lst is in /boot/grub but you won't have one until you install grub--it's part of the installation]

Here is two posts with flash movie links on making frugal or
full installs of Puppy.
When you make an install of frugal, the menulist can be found
at: file-green arrow-boot-grub-menu list.
