living water project

#46 Post by corvan »

Hi, Ttuuxxx,
is the living water project still alive? Or is there an alternative to look for? I couldn't find any recent version or download at all.
Yours, Corvan.

Yes its still very much alive, I've just have had a lot on my table lately, like other a baby 1 month ago, work, and a handful of other puppy releases that I support. Soon I'll release a new alpha version based on 2.14X.
I still have a few minor fixes/updates on 2.14X before I'll release a Living Water version based on it.

well maybe she was more of a old crab than a lobster :), really women can say some of the worst things on the planet. Usually most of the time when my wife goes off at me, I let it in one ear and out the other. Usually I just get in a deep-thought about a puppy problem and nod my head. lol

Hey Jeff

here is something I like very much and am using

I havent tried it on other puppy versions but it should work fine it theory
( you could test live cd then restart X to see the difference )

now run any gtk app like firefox or the ones installed and see the difference 8)
also hover over with the mouse on some buttons for a pleasant surprise

I packaged it as a tar.gz so you could open it easily
it changes the look of gtk2 for the better

in your 214 thread I saw that you were changing the looks of things in the menu
and this would be the icing on the cake :D

P.S I havent even offered this to my TXZ users yet

good luck on your project

EDIT gtkrc to fix a small error 3-6-2011

Hi big_bass,

Thank you for your "oxygen_gtk_theme" which seems to work well with Lupu 5.1.

Doubtless I failed to observe many of its features, but what I found of exceptional appeal was the insertion of the up arrow in the vertical scroll bar at the bottom right corner of Firefox 3.6.14.

My regards

Hi joe nice theme, I like it a lot and will probably use some parts of it.
strange way of using it via /etc and not the normal /usr/share/themes
I find that it did make luci 5.2 puppy run slower on rendering pages.
Thanks for the theme :)

Hi guys,

Two posts above I commented on my liking for the additional up arrow in the Firefox vertical scroll bar.

I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to change the "oxygen_gtk_theme" so that only the scroll bar changes are effected.

It's not crucial, but I'd be pleased if anyone has time to help.

My regards

Alternatively, can the extra arrow be inserted directly from within Firefox?

I don't know if this is the same effect that you are after (see pic),
but this may help you

Hi CatDude,

Thank you for your help. I'm using the Polished Blue Theme (as in your picture) and my window, at least superficially, is similar to your picture.

However, in the bottom right hand corner of your picture you have an extra "up arrow" which I don't have and which would substantially reduce my cursor movement (especially in Firefox) if I understood how to add it.

My regards

Added:

I (foolishly) spent 30 minutes or so considering your picture instead of clicking your link - so I'll be back soon with a more sensible comment.

Further added:

Works perfectly - thank you - what you made easy I made difficult - but it's a lesson learned.

Hi again CatDude,

Using your link, as well as adding the extra "up arrow" I changed the vertical scroll bar width from 14 to 20 and arrow height (step size) from 14 to 60

Scrolling in Firefox is now faster (going up) and so very much easier (up and down) with less cursor accuracy needed.

That was 5 star help.
